Vinomofo Wine Deals

Can't work out what today's 2012 C'warra Cabernet is! It does say Cabernet, not Cab/Sauv. Any ideas?

With the dearth of clues it can be anything, Patrick, Lindemans, Evans & Tate etc.
Patrick might be possible though alc and price ain't spot on.
Previous posts of Cellarmaster's brands also bandied around.
This you have to take on VM trust.

I'm just wondering about today's "Iconic Secret Deal Riesling return" from WA, 2013, 12.5% alcohol. $30 down to $10.50. 94 James Halliday. 93 Jeremy Oliver:

"This winery is so legendary that we decided to forego the conventional 'mof_ Secret Deal' and replace it with the word 'Iconic'. We know the term gets thrown around alot but in this case, we think it's completely fitting - we're talking 5 red stars year-after-year and a rich winemaking history that spans over 40 years. This mof_s, is truly one of the great wineries of the West and lucky for you, we've got a limited number of their 94pt Riesling that we're more than happy to share..."

Any thoughts?

Contraband deal - SA Shiraz 2013 - I think its the Anarchist Mt Benson. While I think the 2012 secret deal Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 is Rymill Classic Cab Sav.

The Rymill looks half decent, currently $26 a bottle at Dan's. Have tried their Dark Horse 2013 Coonawarra Cab Sauv, not bad but lacking a bit of refinement. Probably needed some age.

I need a decent, affordable case of (ideally big, bold) cab sav to reaffirm my previous love of it.

Got some from McWilliams that is apparently RRP$30 per bottle and wasn't impressed. Tasted like an everyday wine to me.

Maybe this is it? Or a previous cab deal that may resurface?

PS - It's cork for those who may not have noticed! :)

You may not like what you find in current vintages. You must consider cellering as an option to truly appreciate great CS.

Thanks for the advice. Cellaring isn't really an option right now however. My wine lasts 6 months tops, 1 year if it's really lucky... which reminds me, time to open the Peter Lehmann Drawcard Shiraz (DM deal), and K1 Shiraz (VM deal). :)

just home from a hard days slog, opened up the golden lion, Lou miranda 2013 shiraz and i have to say after the second glass assesment, it's damn good. is it worth fifty bucks...this is highly subjective as well as this sort of taste world i rarely get to.....suffice to say i have paid more, to get less, but not very often........ is it worth thirty thirty five. certainly. end of story. dr ralph is very correct in cabernet selection....i had a zema estate two weekends ago, the 2009 cabernet. while i was assessing the coonawarra BM 2012 this morning, i thought of zema, but theres is currently the 2010 and it's $25. this is a great price for a cabernet, but i am sure the dr can point you in the direction of many. the problem may be, and he can elaborate concerning his comments, that the last few years may not have been up to his standard. lets be honest, what you taste in you first bottle is a great assessment in my opinion. cough wine stays cough for a long time. finding cabernets in the 2006 - 2010 range is probably what the dr was thinking as well, even though he has wine back from 1998....

i am rambling on a bit here, but the golden lion is no light weight hairy cough, it's a very well made wine from a lass who used to work at fox-gordon.
