AA's Admirals Club 30-day Membership: QF lounge access?

I was rejected from the CBR QP this morning with the AC 30 day pass. At the front gate I was told that my ticket "had to be issued attached to my AAdvantage number as opposed to my QF number." The reason given being that they had to bill AC for the provision of services to AC members and somehow could not take the financial damage of a bowl of Bircher as I would not be processed properly. This would have lost me 2 QF legs and 40SCs which look like they will be critical this year.

Anybody had this problem? I use QF 99% to AC 1% and prefer to keep it that way.

I think this is wrong. You are perfectly entitled to use the AA pass to access the Qantas club flying QF independent of the airline you are crediting the flight to.

Easy, let the dragon change your number to the AA number and change it back whilst in the QP.

Total PITA and it is an issue likely to be experienced at the PER QP.

I think this is wrong. You are perfectly entitled to use the AA pass to access the Qantas club flying QF independent of the airline you are crediting the flight to.

I would make a complaint to QC. Then at least they can spell out the correct policy to the staff at CBR. I doubt they can compensate you for the missed breakfast but it may help others who travel through CBR and are in need of sustenance.

This is the same (and only) lounge that gave me grief on more than one occasion when I tried to access the J lounge under my QF Platinum membership but travelling under my then AA Sapphire membership. I was told it wasn't permitted and never had been - the FF membership on your boarding pass is the membership that determines your privileges.

As mentioned upthread it seems there are some in CBR who confuse access rules of QFF with those of the AA Admirals clubs - they are not the same.

Yes I might say he had a Philippean near-ancestor... I wasn't really in the mood to argue as I was with business company but didn't get a chance to try it in Melbourne. I would give it another shot but would need to come better prepared with more information for next time (thanks mannej)

Has anyone been able to guest in 1 or a family member in SYD International ?....The only reference I can find on AA site is " subject to the terms and conditions " of the lounge. I have not been able to find any info on the Qantas site for this specific point.

Because you're talking about a Qantas lounge rather than an AA lounge, the Qantas (or oneworld) lounge access rules apply.

I don't think you'll have an issue guesting one person (with no restriction on who that is, other than they must be flying with you) but someone with more knowledge will clarify.

You are able to change it back yourself via the RJ MMB section of the RJ website.

To be clear, this has nothing to do with oneworld.

Access with this membership is based on a simple reciprocal agreement between Qantas and American Airlines.

I am thinking the gent in CBR is not aware of this, indeed seeminly confusing things with Qantas' rules for its own members/elites.

I guess this will lead to the inevitable... QC membership to only grant access to AAdmirals Clubs before departing on a QF flight number (QF or AA operated) for flights within the USA?

Access to AAdmirals Clubs is ONLY on the basis that you have a QF or JQ flight number on your ticket? This seems inconsistent with other wording which says access to AA lounges is available when flying AA (no QF flight number).

However - Partner Lounges (AAdmirals Clubs) are still listed under the benefits section of Qantas Club.

When travelling with American Airlines, as a Qantas Club member you and a guest are welcome at American Airlines Admirals Club lounges. Simply present your Qantas Club card together with your boarding pass at the lounge reception. Both you and your guest need to be travelling together further that day on a flight marketed^ and operated by the partner airline whose lounge you wish to visit.
Qantas Club Members will be welcomed at the Emirates Business Lounge in Dubai when their next onwards flight that day is with Qantas.

I suspect from an ACCC perspective, the 'benefits' section overrules the rules later on.
