Qantas Android App arrives

Thanks; I checked out the blurb:

Download our new Android app to get personalised sale alerts delivered straight to your phone. Let us know where and when you want to go and for what price and we'll let you know when fares become available. You can also book flights and hotels, see your points balance, view bookings and check in for most domestic flights. Download it now at Google Play.

The first priority is to push product to you. Oh, and you can do stuff for yourself, to.

Odd quirk that I found is that it doesn't like ' symbol. QFF login would only work if I omitted the character from my surname.

Doesn't work for me. I plug in my location and my FF number etc and it just hangs at that point waiting... Skipping that section and adding it within the program does the same and then causes the app to hang (spinning android standard waiting icon)

Could be maintenance at the Qantas end.... Will try again later.

Login worked ok for me. Apart from the "notify me when there's a sale" stuff though, it doesn't seem to do anything more than the mobile site did. In fact it seems to just be a fancy interface to the mobile site - once you drill down into anything to do with bookings the pages look exactly the same as the mobile site. And there's still no way to view activity statement or even summary of FF account from what I can see.

Not really sure what the point is!

I wonder if the app is carrying over the Qantas FF 'love' for their UK members... Have cleared the app data and cache, tried reauthenticating but still have the same issue.

Installed it and works fine except that it keeps logging me out, and doesn't remember my details, even if I checked the box! A tad frustrating. Another thing it should have is ability to store BPs, but no, it still has to SMS you a weblink...

Still have issues with app over mobile data. Entering dummy data quickly tells me its an invalid login. Likewise when I use then wrong pin for my account.

But with the correct details it just sits there thinking.

Will try over WiFi later tonight.

Works ok and a lot "neater" than the mobile website IMO, but I only ever use the phone for checking points balances. Looks easier to search flights that the mobile website was/is. Don't know how you'd go using it for mobile check in etc - that's a bit advanced for me..

The app updated itself yesterday and has some good new features and a better design.

Notably, a notification appeared on my phone that mobile check-in was open for my flight tomorrow and the app displays the length of time until mobile check-in closes.

Doesn't run at all for me now - just sits there forever with a black screen.

Lots of reviews saying the same thing.

Qantas IT work experience kids strike again maybe?

Actually, that happened on my Nexus 7 last night, but on my Sony this morning, it ran fine. Weird! I'll check the tablet again when I get home tonight.

Great spotting! We did release the new version of the Android app overnight.

This brings the Android app functionality in-line with the iPhone app functionality, so customers with Android phones can have the same day-of-travel experience as iPhone customers.

We are monitoring it closely and looking to resolve any initial issues before the long weekend (NSW).

Believe it or not Red Roo, there are other states outside of NSW that also have a long weekend!!

In fact, it's worth QF remembering that there are other states outside of NSW full stop.

Apologies for the misunderstanding. I was referring to the team monitoring the app. (This Roo is not a NSW native, so fully aware of the geo-sensitivity).

Yeah, one big issue you'll note if you look the app's feedback in the Google Play store is that it won't run on 'rooted' phones.

Edit: well it looks like it's fixed now!

If your phone is "rooted" why not just buy a new one?
