Possibly will lead to fewer queues since one outcome may be lower tourist numbers.Business as usual everyone. Thankfully Australia will see very little difference to current security levels. Maybe an extra check here and there, that will be it.

I sincerely hope I am not proven wrong - but I really don't see the point in making a big deal about raising our alert status?
In the UK I could understand it - but here in Australia I seriously wonder what all the fuss is about, and I would hope we have a competent security service able to monitor our small and confined population (no open borders like in Europe or guns like the USA). Create panic in the population? Show how decisive our government is and deflect from the budget woes?
What's the difference between the UK and here? ... A couple of deranged lunatics walking the high street with knives and machetes ?
Some suburbs in Australia are worse than the UK IMHO.
My guess is the more readily available supply of weapons material that could be used for terror attacks.
Given mail and passenger screening coming into Australia I would hope we have borders which are relatively more secure than in the UK. Not to say the UK authorities aren't doing their best job - but the sheer volume of ferry traffic for example could make it easier to smuggle in people and weapons material.
We have a tiny border (as far as entry points and number of people) here in AU compared to the UK.
Of course availability is still a relative terms when explosive can be forgotten about and mistakenly left at an airport. My guess is the more readily available supply of weapons material that could be used for terror attacks.
