Seems QF are cancelling BKK flights like crazy. Two bookings of mine affected. QF24 cancelled on 7th September and QF23 cancelled on 15th September

Not the only ones cancelling BKK flights. There's a little problem there, some of you may have heard about. :D May well be due to weak demand.

How many are doing so in September though??

Nothing new. They used to do this back in the days when the flight to BKK was QF1/2.

If it was due to decreased demand due to the political unrest, I'd have expected they'd be cutting flights now too.
I'm flying on QF23 later in the month (connecting with another flight) so hopefully I don't get a nasty surprise in my email inbox sometime over the next few weeks...

I suppose they'd send you via Singapore with JQ flying the second leg.

asked them to put me on Emirates with QF codeshare which they did happily. Lady mentioned something about it changing to Monday to Friday only but that seems wrong since they cancelled a Monday flight as well. Problem is the QF23 flight - they put me on the next day's flight which means my connection which was "Flight 2" has now become "Flight 1" and taking an Emirates flight would be too late. Might have to see if they will put me via SIN and 3K (originally was a .br fare so it's gonna be interesting).

True. Maybe it's just softening of demand in general, especially given the EK codeshare. Although given many people (and the more conservative travellers) tend to book months in advance perhaps forward bookings are suffering just as much as current bookings because of the unrest. I do note that 3K and SQ cutbacks in services are currently restricted to June only, wonder if they will eventually cancel some flights in July as well.

I am flying QF23 on 10 September and QF24 on 20 September and flights appear to be OK.

As I mentioned above it has been happening for years and years. Not just BKK, but LAX, LHR too etc.

Sigh...they are now changing QF81/82 and QF 5/6 times. Literally made a booking on Sunday for QF81 for Feb 2015 (meant to arrive at 3pm) and a connecting flight on MH at 5:25pm. Now QF81 arriving at 4:30pm. Should I be able to check my luggage all the way to my destination from SYD (since it's on MH)? If so then I should be able to make the connection...even though it involves a terminal change.

Was planning to go straight to work as QF6 arrived at 9:15am but now arrives at 10:45am.

They also changed the departure times of one of my QF24 flights. FFS - we book because of a reliable schedule and they just keep changing flight times and cancelling flights.

Looks like a lot of changes have just been fed through the system. Flights for my family on QF5 for Feb 2015 have also just changed.

I think minimum connection time in SIN is 50 minutes.

If flight is on time it shouldn't take more than ~20-30 minutes to get from furthest gate in T1 to furthest gate in T2.

If both bookings are on 1 PNR then you should be able to check luggage through and SIN airport is very efficient when it comes to luggage. If separate bookings then you need to visit transfer desk to transfer luggage and you may not have enough time.

separate PNRs...I was hoping to be able to check luggage through to destination and collect MH boarding passes at the transfer desk in T2...

Good luck trying to get Qantas to check through luggage.

FWIW I used to book the ~7:30pm flight for this same connection.

There is no issue checking bags through to mh or any oneworld partner on separate tickets.

Depends on the agent you get at check in. Last year I had trouble to check in all the way on separate QF and RJ tickets and only got it after a long argument with that agent in MEL which eventually had to call her supervisor to do it. The whole process was very stressful.

We have experienced the same going from QF to AY or RJ. It appears the check in agent will mask their inexperience with "computer says no" and have little interest in trying to do it. We go through the routine a lot with QF onto AY but manage to always get it done when they need to call their supervisor for help. We just remain calm and stand our ground advising them we've done it plenty of times in the past.

Oh back on topic ... Our Dec SYD BKK and back flights have also changed. Depart 20 mins earlier from Syd and departing +1 hr from BKK.
