I'm having problems with the QF website again, but this appears to have just gone up (apologies if I'm late to the party as usual):

We recently reached an amazing milestone of 10 million members and we're celebrating with offers and a great competition!

10% points back on Classic Awards

Right now you can get 10% points back on Classic Awards^. Make as many Economy Classic Award bookings as like, with at least one Economy Qantas operated flight in each itinerary, before 31 July 2014 and we'll give you 10% of the points back on all eligible flights. Points will be credited to your account within 2 weeks of ticket issue. It's just our way of thanking you for being a loyal Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Plus, we've released 5 million Classic Award seats to help you make the most of this fantastic offer.

To enjoy this offer you need to register first.

Win 1 million Qantas Points

Just imagine all the things you could do! You might treat your family to a holiday to one of over 1,000 global destinations, shop up a storm in the online Qantas Store or simply jet off on a mini-break whenever it takes your fancy. Whatever you decide, one thing's for certain - you'll have the time of your life using all those points!

For your chance to win this incredible prize all you need to do is:

  1. Register; and
  2. Earn Qantas Points in a program icon you've not earned in within the last 12 months and have those points credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account before 3 November 2014*

Earning in a new icon is easy

In Australia you have eight icon categories - Flights, Shopping, Qantas Cash, Cards & Banking, Food & Wine, Cars & Hotels, Phone & Web and More.
In New Zealand you have four icon categories - Flights, Cards & Banking, Cars & Hotels and More.
Outside of Australian and New Zealand you can earn in Flights, Cars & Hotels and more.
Find out which icons you have already earned in by checking Your Account

Please remember, it can take up to eight weeks for points earned with some of our partners to appear in your account, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to earn to be eligible for the competition.

50% off Qantas epiQure membership

Not a member of Qantas epiQure? Join before 21 July 2014 and we'll give you 50% off a 12 month membeship#, so you'll pay just $49.50 or 6,500 points. Qantas epiQure gives you access to a carefully curated cellar of premium wines, including those we serve in Qantas First and Business cabins, plus you will enjoy 3 Qantas Points for every $1 spent and free delivery within Australia. (Only available to Australian residents 18 or older).

In general, when the taxes copayment is considered, Economy classic award seats are a complete waste of points (one way international flights are a possible exception).

Given virtually every international award has an economy flight regardless of class booked this should be easy to redeem. :p

Certainly nothing new released on the NZ flights front. Had just booked some flights anyway and was looking to see if something better was available but of course not. Only the multi stop flights and JQ flights that no one wants.

This part of the fine print is just so intuitive:

The ability to redeem Qantas Points for taxes, fees and carrier charges for eligible travel entirely within Australia and selected international flights commencing in Australia is only available when booking at qantas.com and ‘Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards’ is not ticked before searching for flights. For eligible travel entirely within New Zealand, the ability to redeem Qantas Points for taxes, fees and carrier charges is only available when booking atqantas.com and ‘Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards’ is ticked before searching for flights.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Proof readers luck out again? (bookings 'as like' - is that some street rap?)

From the T&Cs:

Itineraries that include a mix of Economy and Business flights will only have 10% points given back on Economy flights.

So does that mean for a J 280k reward, you make get back 10% of the economy 140k points (i.e., 14k)? Or do they use the standard points of the individual Y (X) flights and give back 10% of those?

I was particularly impressed by this plural:

Itinerariesy’s that include a mix of Economy and Business flights will only have 10% points given back on Economy flights.

Call me cynical but all these incentives are they maybe to try and placate the frequent flyers who are possibly not too happy with the new "fairer" system coming into play this weekend? They've also extended the 50% status credit bonus promotion for those people that got it. Very strange times.

Be careful with that, the 10% is only given on eligible flights. What is an eligible flight? Economy flights only?

From the T&Cs:

There will be one prize of 1,000,000 Qantas Points. The maximum notional value of the Prize is AU$22,755 as at 5 May 2014 based on a sample of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Awards that could be obtained by redeeming through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.

Interesting. So 1 Qantas Point = AU$0.022755. That's 2 cents.

How much better does "One million points" (in a Dr Evil voice) sound than "$22 755 prize to be won!"

To give away "One million dollars!" it would have to be 43 946 385.4 points. That's nearly 44 million points. Imagine that.

This promotion is sooooooooooooooo tempting, not.

Save 10% on Y flights and pay 1,000's in Qantas surcharges. Thanks Qantas, big thanks.

That would be unimaginable because I don't think Qantas has a spare mil in actual dollars to just throw around. :p

Given the experience with the 10x vouchers, we could run a book on how long it takes for the points to be credited!

Based on this, I am trying to work out, are international flights commencing outside of Australia eligible or not for this promo?
