Based on this, I am trying to work out, are international flights commencing outside of Australia eligible or not for this promo?

It may have changed since I booked my BKK-ADL flight in May, but at that time, only flights from AU seemed to be listed and I was a little p***** off. Seriously, restrictions on the routes it can be redeemed on? And please explain QFi how does a BKK-ADL-BKK flight differ from an ADL-BKK-ADL flight?

Same aircraft, same distance, same airport (same inconsistent service) - am I missing something???

(Oh wait - I forgot, you get different butter flying out of AU.)

I would suggest that is referring to any seat awards, not classic awards. Basically, if you want to use points to pay for taxes, fees and charges then you can't use a classic award.

Not very tempting. I am not even sure 20% is tempting.

Oh well. At least Qantas is trying. Remove fuel surcharges from awards.

From the T&Cs:

Itineraries that include a mix of Economy and Business flights will only have 10% points given back on Economy flights.

Not exactly generous when those mixed-award flights are always charged at the rate of the higher class award. ie mixed Y/J all gets charged at J redemption rates. And QFF I think more than any other program seems to manage to be able to work ina Y leg or 2 on many possible redemptions.

Much fairer would be to charge by the Y/J/F mileage booked. This is really a scam that the ACC should get onto.

Yes, that seems to make more sense.

Although the confusion would be saved if they just gave a 10% discount on eligible routes like they used to in promos (ie discount came at time of purchase), rather than the whole 10% "points back", where there's always a niggling doubt whether you have been T&C'd out of the promo, and aren't eligible for the 10%, therefore will never see it.

Is it safe to assume a oneworld award is included in this promo as long as it includes a QF sector? ie. get 14,000 points back? I can't see a T&C which excludes it.

10% back on Y only ... I thought it was an April Fools joke for a moment ... nope ... they think this is a serious promotion that people will be lining up for.

I bet a lot of first-timers will be giving it a go to book for LAX or LHR in a few wks or Xmas and get a shock with availability & fees, taxes and fairy-dust charges.

The net impact may actually p!ss people off vs acting as an incentive to earn more points and thereby generating more revenue for the golden goose QFF scheme.

10% Qantas Points back on Classic Awards

Hi everyone,

I didn't see a posting about this but QANTAS are running a 10% Qantas Points back on Classic Awards promotion for people who register and book an award flight using at least 1 QANTAS operated flight. This only applies for economy award seats (not ASA) but applies for the entire booking. So if multiple flights across multiple airlines the total cost of the award points in Y is refunded.

Conditions
The 10% back on Qantas Points used for Qantas Classic Award flights offer is only valid for Classic Award bookings with at least one Qantas operated Economy (Fare X) flight in the itinerary. Bookings must be made between 23 June 2014 and 31 July 2014. Itineraries that include a mix of Economy and First, Business or Premium Economy flights will only have 10% points given back on Economy flights. Qantas Any Seat Award bookings are not included in this offer. The 10% back offer applies to the Qantas Points required for a Classic Award booking and does not apply to the taxes, fees and carrier charges which are payable additionally.

Re: 10% Qantas Points back on Classic Awards

just only recently booked 5 flights from Mel - NY and 4 flights LAX-Mel a couple days all in economy, can confirm that I received the 10% back on both flights, that's a total of 51,000 points. Timing for me was perfect.
