My nephew was with Vodafone. He lives in Perth. He was calling them because their network was dreadful and had called them several times to complain but the line kept dropping out. Eventually Vodafone contacted the secondary phone on the account (nephews father) and the Vodafone person complained to his father that they were trying to speak with my nephew but the phone connection was just too bad and they'd given up. Umm yes. That was why my nephew was trying to call them. 

WE pretty well only get Telstra where I live so lucky for me...

Unfortunately if you work in remote WA then telstra is your only option. Nothing else exists. We have 2 cellphone towers on site and both are Telstra!

Telstra's Network is awesome but their plans and charges, especially for data are ridiculous!

But I guess that's the price if a reliable network.

I did the sums ~2½ years ago and for my circumstance found Virgin Mobile to be better value being around 30% less cost than what was being asked by Telstra (who I had been with for over a decade). Since by far the majority of my usage is within the area covering 98% of Australia's population it was really a no brainer.

Ok, so there are hiccups like yesterday's (once in 850+ days) and I can't make calls from Red Hill on the MP or the MCG at ½ time at the grand final/ANZAC day but it's a small cross to bear.

Even with the ad hoc $10 I spent yesterday with Telstra for data I am still thousand's of dollars ahead on the four services I pay for.

And why I am happy with my $10 Telstra plan. They do keep trying to get me to change.

At least 20 years. They recently have been threatening to abolish it as they finally did with mrsdrron's $5 plan a couple of years ago.

The $10 plan sounds good but I still have the $5 plan. When Telstra threatened to cancel it I just asked them how to port my number to another carrier. They said I could keep the plan and have never mentioned cancelling it since.

Ahhh how I love QLD autumn

Sprawled on my MIL's couch on the patio with the sun just kissing my socked but still chilly feet - bliss!

I probably should just take some leave, although taking leave to see the doctor is a failure IMHO.

Where did you get that idea from, to work successfully then you need to have a healthy mind and body, some of us are going to have different problems, some of us need to be careful in the sun, some of us need to be careful with certain drugs; whether that be smoking or alcohol. Go and make some time for yourself, and if you have to see a doctor go and do it.

Work isn't the end all and be all in life.

Start taking control.

A positive post from Johnk, I almost don't believe it.

Maybe the engagement has given you a new positive streak in life, congratulations.:D

Have to agree.

Penegal, work is nothing if you have a significant medical issue. Maybe you really just don't want to find the time? That's understandable but not in your long term best interests.

Cannot help but think of Paul Kelly when listening to Coldplays "Call it Magic", deep lyrics given the circumstances the song was written in.

All this talk about telephone deals, I'm on a $10 deal with Optus - "Connect for Less", promoted as a plan for cheap overseas calling but in fact one of the best plans around. I don't ring overseas.

And penegal, if you are not in the best of health, please see your GP - we all would like to see you healthy and attend some AFF events.
