Qantas A380 Configurations (wiki content) - Australian Frequent Flyer

1. Overview

The Airbus A380 fleet is comprised of twelve A380-800 aircraft delivered between September 2008 and December 2011.

The aircraft were originally delivered in a 14F/72J/32W/332Y configuration but all converted over 2012-2013 to a denser 14F/64J/35W/371Y configuration with a small upstairs Y cabin.

In advance of Qantas’s 100th birthday and at roughly their 10th birthday the aircraft are being reconfigured to 14F/70J/60W/341Y and repainted into the new SilverRoo scheme. Repaint commenced in March 2018 and refurbs are expected to commence in July 2019.

Inflight Internet is not expected to be rolled out until at least 2021 when the new ViaSat-3 set of satellites are launched.

The following changes are expected to occur internally:
Upstairs Bar – Revised seating arrangement with tables, and additional seating with conversion of CSM station
First – New larger IFE screens, and seat coverings.
Business – New Business Suite product (similar to 787) and 6 more seats
Premium Economy – New PE suite product (similar to 787 with 38″ pitch) and 25 more seats
Economy – Removal of 30 upper deck seats, new seat cushions, improved IFE

Eight aircraft have been repainted in Dubai. It has not been announced where the final four will be repainted. Reconfiguration will be undertaken by Airbus in Dresden.

Qantas has no more A380s on order (after cancelling the final 8 A380s in February 2019).
