Hi Guys,

First time poster, long time lurker... Question is I just got upgraded to WP status (for the first time) but i'm currently on 985 SC (which I understand shouldn't happen until 1000SC)? Is this right? All the benefits have come through (i.e. can book economy x for free & get the 4 free upgrades etc.) and review date has changed to today next year....

Could it have something to do with an upcoming flight (tomorrow) which would have bumped me over the threshold anyway? Anyone else had this happen to them?

There have been reports of this happening (unlike with QFF).

It can be an issue if you had certain dates planned for travel in 53+ weeks time.

Otherwise, enjoy the WP bennies on your upcoming flight. (yX for Domestic etc.)

Yeah just called customer service and they confirmed the upgrade. So instantly booked row 3 on tomorrows and next weeks flights as well as ordered some extra luggage tags :D

If you can, wait until Jan to activate your Diamond Hilton Honors benefit, to maximise your membership.

And congratulations!

Lucky you!!! I was on 999 and didn't get the upgrade to WP.

This is not common but happens occasionally, esp. if you have flights booked in the near future already. Funnily enough, I've had it happen in QFF, but not VA (although TBF most of my catapulting into WP on VA has been from OS trips of 100 SCs or more, not domestic).

Edit: And of course, congratulations!

Cheers for the congrats. Yeah I've slogged it out the hard way. Economy between Melb & Bris with a few trips to Perth and Hobart sprinkled in.

You know what this means now... youre on the FF mouse wheel... day 1 has started and you need to earn 800 SCs :)

Yeah I know the feeling, though shouldn't be an issue with 2 international trips with Singapore Airlines coming up next month (for total approx 400SC) - perfect timing to reach WP just before they come up, credits can go straight towards maintaining it.

I ticked over to SG earlier this week and it said I already opted-in to my HH Gold... even though I haven't. ( have HH Gold on nights alone...

Do we no longer get 2 goes at opting-in? I dropped to silver last year and then back up to Gold.

My understanding is if you drop down and then re-up back to WP, you get another HH Diamond offer. But if you stay as WP year after year, you only get the one HH Diamond offer (which is what happened to my husband).

May 2018 my husband is going to drop down to SG. All going to plan, 2019 he will be back up to WP and will get another HH Diamond offer.

HH is a one-time offer based on T&C.

In the past you could get more opportunities if you dropped down and came back up. But the recent reports are that this loophole has closed.

I was pooling to the wife to get her to SG, and she was on 485sc. She needed the extra 15sc by her review date of 15th April, so the plan was to get her ticked over to SG as close as possible to that date. However, VFF upgraded her to SG 2 months earlier on 485sc.

Well that sucks. Im activating my HH diamond in Jan so at least we get to use that.

Why did you want to wait as close to the review date as possible? Even if she went up early, the review date resets doesn't it? So I don't understand what benefit there would be to wait? Can someone pls explain this to me?

As the review date would change to 2 months earlier, she would have 12 months of SG from that new date. We had planned to travel the following year 13 months after her new review date.

Ahhhhhhh I see! so its all about future bookings and getting them within the review period? So if there are no bookings as yet (or plans greater than 13 months out) then there wouldn't be any reason to wait?

When I reached WP I was on 980 SC's and was just bumped up. I think it was partway through a return journey and I had another flight ahead of me, but its a few years back now so can't be certain.
