Ahhhhhhh I see! so its all about future bookings and getting them within the review period? So if there are no bookings as yet (or plans greater than 13 months out) then there wouldn't be any reason to wait?

It's all about extending your time with status. True, if you don't travel when you are without status no big deal, but one can't always predict that.

A colleague of mine also got bumped up a few month back to Gold with around 480 SC without calling up.

I'm 7 SC away from Silver, should've happened 6 weeks ago but SQ kept rejecting the points claims. Eventually SIN-BNE credited but not BNE-SIN (now an ongoing saga). But I have two flights on Thursday (to PER) so in lieu of the final flight crediting in the next 3 days I'd love a bump up at 243sc! I'm going to be Gold after returning from PER which I'm excited about! Silver will be my first airline status too.

Another datapoint - I was comp'd WP at ~770 SCs in Jan. My review date had previously been Oct and up until Oct last year, I had been WP since the first SM (in 2011?) but dropped to SG for what turned out to be a relatively short time!

I am a bit miffed at the moment. My review date falls mid trip and I'm a little short but by the return leg, I will have the SC to requalify for WP (Int J netting 400 SC in total).

VFF have indicated they will not recognise the fact I am mid trip and will bounce me back to Gold.

Frustrating given they are handing out Gold status like lollipops to Flybuy members, yet won't recognise a flyer who actually earns their SC with cash, and has done with them for over 10 years.

One thing that bothered me is just as I had earned Gold properly I was offered Explore Gold, also I have noticed and increase in people with status that don't know how it works entirely because they have just gone from NR to SG with no idea.

I was also bumped up to WP (first time) 2 days ago on 990 SCs.

I've been on 978 SC for about 4 weeks, haven't hit platinum before. I'll get it in mid-December, but I was checking every couple of days to see if they would bump me up but it hasn't happened!
