Checkin opens at T-3 hours, there was one economy desk open earlier with a L Plater doing the work, average time to process a person was twenty minutes!

Once through immigration it's a short ride to Gate 60, the club house being above that.

For impressions of the club house - brilliant. After a few hours waiting for check in I was thirsty, mentioned I needed a scotch, one arrived in ten seconds after selecting a seat and its clear they knew how I like my scotch, none of this nip rubbish.

I thought I would grab a quick shower ( I think they only have one or two) before the inbound VS200 arrived which I would imagine might strain the showers.

I just made it in time:

Thanks for the pics. I actually quite like the hkg clubhouse when I was last there..

Time flew in the lounge and before I knew it, boarding time. The priority queue was long but policed (a few punters gave that non genuine shocked look to discover they were in the wrong line), and after a secondary bag check for LAGS, it was time to board. Drinks were handed out along with PJs (methinks my L size PJs were sandbagging since they fitted OK and I am not a L).

Not long after we were on our way, I skipped dinner and decided to rest, I found the seat OK but would have rested better if a bigger pillow was on offer. Breakfast was served around an hour out and it was very good, no cafe style here! I took some time to try the IFE, I found the content poorer than QF, SQ or EK.

Overall the flight was good, VS is certainly got a different product as far as seat goes to others and as has been commented before, herringbone is not everyone's cup of tea service was brilliant throughout the flight, very much a step up compared to SQ which had flown that morning. The amenity kits are OK, probably better than QF but no EK comparison, while the PJs were comfy.

Overall it was a very good flight, the staff making the difference, will do it again soon but the other way.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I agree with the HK Clubhouse. Very nice facility. Certainly a quality product. The staff running the clubhouse are very well trained and the duty manager was on top of his game.

The herringbone seating is not my cup of tea at all. It really doesn't feel like J class at all.

Food wise. The SYD - HKG leg food was ordinary and I only had the cafe breakfast on the HKG - SYD leg. I must have missed something but I am sure the full cooked breakfast wasn't on offer. (this was last Friday night).

Totally agree on the need for a bigger pillow. As soon as I read the comment it struck a cord.

Overall OK but not at same standard as SQ and below QF in my opinion. Biggest drawback is I think the fit out on the planes is showing its age and hate the herringbone.

As far as value for money on a points redemption you cannot get a better deal to HKG.

Oh and by the way when you order a spirit in the clubhouse in HK make sure you like it strong. They don't hold back.
