Well this has been a long time coming and for a while, I wasn't sure I could take the 2 days off with my new business due for settlement on Monday. But the fact that I'm here with family and clients does help.

This TR, like previous years, will include live match updates, photos of the ground and the Qld Cricketers Club; plus for the foodies and wine aficionados, pictures of the culinary delights from the QCC chef and her team. For all this to happen, I have 2 external batteries fully charged.

I'm on the (free BCC) bus into town to link up with the free shuttle bus to The Gabba, where I'll meet my father, uncle and one of my clients who has become my regular first day guest.

An AFF'er will also be my guest on Saturday ;)

First ball is bowled at 10:00am, so the updates will start coming shortly beforehand

I may be up on Saturday to meet up with another AFFer (or same?) at the Gabba if it rains, otherwise at the Hilton Exec lounge.

First bus dropped me at Roma Street, so now for the shuttle. Yes, that's the right bus:

Certainly a sesion that belonged to the Aussies. ABC radio discussing it is the 1st time Aussies have had 3 100 run opening partnerships in a row-Rogers in the other 2 at end of Ashes

That sounds correct. Was a great first session, only interrupted by a review for lbw where snicko showed a modest movement but importantly it pitched outside leg and the initial decision was not out. Great to see 100 in the first session.

It felt like I was at at the boxing - this is the first time they have ever done this:

For those interested this was the menu in the Bradman Room today:

Sorry?', you must be at a different game. Warner on 99,, Khawaja on 23. 1/201. Great day so far

How much is lunch at Bradman room (assume members only area)

Beers are now the drink of the day, as the sun goes down and the runs flow almost as much as the beer:

Bracewell just slipped over in the final stride of bowling the ball and has both embarrassed himself and bruised his ego and leg :D

$130 IIRC. The airconditioning is worth at least $20 when you've been out in the sun for the first hour. There is a differential between members and guests - I think I've quoted the guest price, will have to look at my invoice

I'm trying to remember the last time we were 1/235 on Day 1 of a Test. Happy days, I think I'll have another beer :D

Craig reminds me of Mark Waugh bowling offspin. That is unfortunate for NZ.

14 overs, 2 maidens, 0/60-odd. Pedestrian off spin. Easily dispatched to the boundary by both Burns and Warner earlier today when he was first introduced.
