Not that it matters but interested to know where you got 467 miles for SYD-BNE? Great Circle Mapper? QF lists it on activity statement as 468 miles.

Interesting to note that Velocity only credits MH flights at 0.5 points/mile for discount economy airfares.

I use GCM all the time for the BIS miles column. Simply because every airline seems to use either GCM or some variant of it, and I am not opening up all of them to test what they consider the sector mileage. I also have a GCM shortcut in Firefox that lets me find the GCM of any routing straight from the address bar.

QF is always within around 50 miles of the distance quoted by GCM (plus or minus).

As for MH earn with DJ, oddly enough "Discount Economy" according to MH can award anywhere between 0.3 - 1.0 points per mile (lowest classes O and L; highest are K and B). Full Economy (Y, W and U) give 1.25 points per mile.

It just so happened that this quite cheap fare from MH that Mum bought booked into S.

FWIW the earning rate for an MH flight in Velocity closely matches the earnings rate that would be achieved in the MH enrich program. The main differences are that domestic Malaysian flights and flights between Singapore and Malaysia are non earning in Velocity

In fact, my KUL-KBR flight didn't credit as expected (I assume it's a no credit since my other MH flight that day (MNL-KUL) did credit already; unlike QF, Velocity don't seem to show any flights on your record which do not credit anything or are unsuccessful claims). But I'm not going to credit the small amount of miles to Enrich - goodness knows what I could possibly do with the small amount of mileage (i.e. nothing).

Not much you can do with the points. I credit to Enrich based on the premise that they have nowhere else to go. Still, I am silver with enrich, and they have this thing called priority check-in, even on domestic flights
