Looks like there'll be a raft of these emails going out like this:

As you know, your loyalty allows you to earn additional benefits with Le Club Accorhotels.
In fact, thanks to the number of times you have stayed in one of our hotels, you have been eligible for our special
Le Club Accorhotels Platinum
status advantages for the past 12 months. We sincerely hope that you have been able to make use of these exclusive privileges.

However we regret to inform you that you have not reached the required number of Le Club Accorhotels points or hotel nights to maintain your current status.
The status of your card is calculated on the activity of the last 365 days.

Your revised status level will appear on your account within 24 hours and your new
Le Club Accorhotels Classic card will be sent to you within 2 weeks

How many more members are doing the drop of status (walk of shame)... - post here :D [I don't want to be the only one :(].

If I could be bothered, I'll sign up for the next 12 months' worth of Plat status, from markis10's thread.

At least I used it - not that a single night stay at the Auckland Airport Novotel made much difference (other than saving the existing 410 points in my account).

Got that email as well... on two separate email addresses :D

Not to worry I already have a new Platinum number since this morning ;) good news for them is I have already booked 11 nights at Pullmans in Germany Thailand and NZ for the next couple of months, now to see if I can get my new plat number in my existing bookings.

Me too - used mine a couple of times but didn't seem to get any benefits from it.

The only real benefit has been the "Award Accelerator".
Yes, the only thing I received other than that was a fabulous view over the Tiergarten at the Pullman in Berlin and a late checkout (might have got 4pm actually). But the view may have had nothing to do with the status - the room was otherwise standard for a Pullman/Sofitel.

Largely useless, but I have booked one night at the Pullman in Brisbane for a few weeks time in the recent sale because it was cheap. It certainly doesn't inspire any loyalty in me, unlike HHonors Gold and even PC Platinum. While the latter has nothing guaranteed, I tend to receive better attitude/service and the odd small upgrade, and late checkout to 2pm is never a problem. I have received bottles of wine before as welcome gifts.

Largely useless...
I think that this sums up the Le Club Accor loyalty program perfectly.

IME the individual hotels within the group are simply not team players, the end result is a loyalty program which, well, can't inspire loyalty.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I got the email this morning. My first reaction was WTF, has 12 months passed by already.

Then realized I made a booking a couple of weeks ago at the Pullman in BKK for a stay in Dec, and asked for room upgrade and late checkout as per my platinum benefits. Oops, will be a bit interesting at checkin.

I'm thinking of using my Europcar VA platinum status match to regain Accor platinum :).

At least I made the most of it:
- got a room upgrade at Novotel Melb
- room upgrade and late checkout, plus welcome gift at Sofitel Sydney
- upgrade to executive lounge access at Pullman G BKK
In past year

Received the email dropping me back to Silver this morning. I used it about 3 times at Melb Sofitel and it was handy for the late checkout, I also recieved 1 upgrade. Am staying at the Sofitel again in Jan, so might try and sign up again for Platinum and merge accounts.

Edit - platinum signup has expired. Will have to wait for the next one

there is a new link in that thread which worked for me this morning, god I am bad at searching on AFF

edit

did find it, posted by sergeroz in the other thread, this is link that still works

I also received the email dropping me to Silver but, the same as others, have already signed up for a new Plat.
I will also merge...thanks Serfty

Got the email on Friday that I'd dropped down to Gold. Missed out on retaining Platinum by about 4000 points. Seeing as there's been success merging accounts I'll sign up for the Platinum offer again so I can retain the points under one account.

It's certainly been worth it this year for me with room upgrades at most locations; Melbourne - Mercure, MGallery and Sofitel, Bangkok - Grand Mercure and Pullman, Brisbane Mercure, Heathrow Novotel. Most have also thrown in a welcome gift.

Definitely, as it appears those bonus points contribute to status requalification.
I had 6 eligible nights and over 3000 points, inclusive of award accelerator, credited in the past 12 months and retained silver (T&Cs say qualification is 10 nights or 2,500 points). I can't find any particular details about the difference in earn levels between retaining and attaining.
