Your Flybuys points will soon take off

Did anyone else get this email from (AT)edm-flybuys-com-au ?

Hi xx_xx, Get ready for your Velocity Points balance to soar! Shortly, all your flybuys points will be transferred to Velocity along with a 15% Velocity Points bonus.

As of 21 May 2017, you have 00000 flybuys points in your account. Your balance, at the end of May and again at the end of June, will automatically be transferred to Velocity unless you stop the automatic transfer by Saturday 27 May.

My FB account is linked to Velocity and has been earning SC for several months.

I can't see any indication that this email is spam, but equally I can find no reference to this on the flybuys or Velocity websites, so highly suspicious. There also does not seem to be any way of opting either in or out of an auto transfer scheme on either site.

I got the same email, but I activated the offer with complimentary Gold Status with VA and an automatic transfer of FB points to VA with an added 15% bonus for May and June.

This may have been intended as an "offer" but as I am already VA WP they must have dropped the pilot Gold offer from the text, leaving a bit of a weird "offer". Still, sounds a bit odd to force OPT OUT rather than ACTIVATE like most offers.

They sent emails early in the month asking members to Activate the offer to sweep all points across. Perhaps you activated it accidently?

I just checked and don't have this offer. Given that current rules indicate you can only transfer a certain number of Flybuys points to Virgin each year, I can see a problem arising for some straight away. In addition you may wish to use Flybuys points for many things such as shopping at Coles! Having to opt out seems quite unusual, and the whole offer unusual. Hard to believe it's even legitimate.

They're onto that problem!

	Once activated, all your flybuys points will be automatically transferred to Velocity at the end of May and June 2017. Transfers will be completed within 5 business days after the end of each month.*
•	From 15 May to 30 June 2017, the annual transfer limit of 138,000 flybuys points will not apply. At the end of the promotional period the transfer limit of 138,000 will be reinstated.*
