I picked up two return flights from Sydney to Siagong (HMC) via darwin on Jetstar last year for a total price of $335. That was both of us so $167.50 each.

If we had flown from WW to Sydney to catch the flight the Wagga Wagga section would have cost more.

The day it happened I saw a good deal out of Darwin ($99 one way) so I thought I would see the price out of Sydney and it came up at $29 plus taxes and charges bringing the total to $335. Clearly it was an error on the web site as it disappeared minutes later but giving Jet* credit, the honoured the tickets.

My wife and I enjoyed the time we spent there as well.

$48 each way SYD - PER return including all taxes.

Total $96.

This was a Virgin 48 hour sale a few years back which was $48 anywhere in the country...I was lucky as I was able to get the retuirn leg for $48 as well....cost me twice as much for the taxi home!

Got Jetstar Melbourne direct to Honolulu $450 return pp, pretty good.

In July doing CG - KL for $250 return with Air Asia. Planning on using Optiontown for those flights.

Domestic: 16¢ return MEL-ADL on JQ. $2 return MEL-SYD on TT.

International: ~$200 return to KL on D7. ~$150 MEL-CHC-MEL on JQ.

Cheapest? MEL-HBA-MEL on JQ for $44 all up.

Most effective? BOS-xDFW-xSFO-xLAX-xHNL in first class for USD720 (~AUD800) earning 450 SC's.

This year JQ SYD-DRW-MNL $400 PP return

In 2009 JQ SYD-OOL-KIX return also $400 PP.

Not sure I'd do the first one again, late night flight return with a break in Darwin really knocked us around.

Nothing special domestically maybe cheapest Syd - Mel $69

INT - Den-dfw-ord-lex in first for $200 each way, did this back and forth a few times last year  180sc's for $200

International: SEK 1:- (about AUD 0.15) for a o/w Stockholm to Paris flight. It was a published fare too, available to anyone and not an error.

That's easy - $99 fares fron SYD to Honolulu in June 2008 with Jetstar! :)

I saw the offer from Jetstar in January on an email notice and within ten minutes has booked the tickets for eight days in Hawaii for $398 total return for my wife and I.

I may never know whether it was a mistake or not but it was an awesome trip for so little money!

A year or so of negative value fares from Jetstar, yes that's right, Jetstar was effectively paying me, to fly all over the country with them - thanks to their now defunct "Double the Difference" Promotion.

Let me explain...

Let's say I started off with a $1000cash investment in airfares, which I intended to turn into enough DtD vouchers for a Star Class return flight to HNL ($2000+).

So, how did Jetstar turn my $1000 into $2000+? With a load of flights that they paid me to take, around the time that Tiger started flying.

How it worked...

step 1: invest my original $1000 cash into half a dozen or so Jetstar DtD tickets. For example, find a flight time (various segments to choose from) where Tiger had a really cheap flight, and conversely Jetstar (thanks to Joycies skills at yield management) had really expensive flights (generally Friday or Sunday afternoon/evenings) and buy the Jetstar fare, with the proviso of getting Double the Difference back as a voucher.

e.g. Tiger fare = $10, Jetstar fare = $100, difference = $90, DtD voucher to be awarded $180

step 2: once the DtD vouchers started to arrive, reinvest them into new airfares (as close as possible to the voucher amount, as any unused portion was forfeit).

e.g. Tiger fare = $20, Jetstar fare = $160, difference = $140 - cash in $180DtD voucher to receive a new DtD voucher for $280 (i.e. Jetstar effectively pays me $100 to take that flight )

step 3: repeat, until total DtD vouchers in hand, hit the required level for my Star Class fare :)

bonus: because I was travelling on expensive Jetstar fares, changing the fare dates/times was a case of simply paying the (previously small) change fee, as any new flight was probably cheaper than what I had paid originally.

And presto, for $1000cash I managed to get the vouchers for my $2000+ Star Class flight, plus quazillions of domestic flights all over the place for over a year.

It only worked, because I was able to use Joycies arrogant yield wizardry against him, with thanks to a poorly worked out promotion.

Late 2008 picked up JQi SYD-HNL return for 2 pax at a total of $590 all inclusive of baggage, food, and credit card fees :) That's $295 return per person.

The first anniversary of Polynesian Blue...$100 for SYD to APW.
OOL to SYD cost me more

Back in 2000 when overseas flights were much more expensive than we can purchase now. It was nearing Sydneys Olympics time. We had heard that there may be cheap flights, however for months previous nothing......and then about 2 months before we managed to get 4 adult return fares (M&D and 2 teenage sons) for just over $450 each on United and whats more on check in we were able to snavel exit row seats for the flight over. We were very happy and had a great time.

On check in at LAX for our return flight we were told that the flight was overbooked and was offered $400 each per person and free overnight accommodation to catch the following days flight home.

Now if the exchange rate was what it is today, that would have been icing on the cake. But we weren't complaining!!

30,000 FF points (+$60 tax) for two pax CUN-DFW-SCL one way on our exact dates (back in 2009). Fare to purchase at the time was full flex only, ~$2600ea. Used to link up BNE-NYC and SCL-BNE on a cheap QF fare (in addition to cheap MX fare NYC-CUN).

See this is what happens when one does not fly JQ or TT!

My best has to be a SIN-MEL-SYD-MEL-SIN in economy for <AUD800 on the A380 both ways and allocated 80A and 80K.

Hoping to start utilising the current business class special of BKK-SYD-BKK for ~AUD1500....

2c OOL-SYD-OOL

One of their birthday sales. The credit card charge was more, thankfully, I used direct deposit.

No trouble putting 2c into JQ's account.

Jagged row 1, and a free bottle of water onboard... And of course the free entry into QP T2...

Of course, add in the hundreds of J flights, I think they are still ahead.

Ahh yes I remember this, It was indeed a mistake and I also grabbed this.

In general the sub $1000 trans pacific deals do it for me. Compared to what was on offer before V's entry, its a bloody steal.

JQ, bring back double the diff!

There have been many over the years.
First was in 1969 on TAA SYD-POM.F was just $10 more than Y and I quite rightly felt I could drink more than that in beer-well I do share a birthday with Boonie!:D:oops:
Then early 90s on QF SYD-AKL.$99 return plus extra $7 for a weeks car hire.
And then had a few free Sheraton nights spent at the old Sheraton Rotorua.
