Our two (12 & 10) have clocked around 3,500SC each......with more than 3/4 of their flights being classic awards....therefore, no SC earn.

They've enjoyed economy, business and First. Took me 43 years to do SYD-LHR-SYD in First.....they did it at the age of 10 & 8. Lucky buggers just added SYD-LAX to the First list...

Master Lambchop did SYD-LHR in J with me at 3 months (in bassinet). Has done subsequent Y trips to the UK, Fiji and domestic - made PS on his 3rd birthday.
Little Miss Lambchop has also done Fiji at 12 months and the UK at 15 months but without her own seat. Just signed her up as part of the free promotion last week

First flight AKL-MEL at 12 weeks.

EK silver at 17. VA Silver and Gold at 21 (will cross plat for 22nd birthday).

Unfortunately my parents never cared for status. Did a quick (actually lengthy) calculation. 21 years of flying records for 167,592 miles. Most of it on SQ, MH and QF growing up, brief period on EK. So many miles and SCs down the drain :(

No status ever for me (or ever likely).

First flight at 11 years...but my daughter's first commercial flight was at 4 days old. Cairns to Weipa. After a month away from home because you aren't allowed to stay in remote communities past 8 months pregnant I just wanted to go home, couldn't get out of the hospital fast enough.

Post conception and pre birth I flew up and back Brisbane to Weipa about three times but have no specific details.

My eldest daughter (now just over 4) achieved WP by 17 months age via an AONE4 where we booked a child fare. She's drifted back to PS now but will be WP again come July with another AONE4.

Number 2 daughter will get to WP on the same itinerary at 18 months of age, meaning the whole family will be WP's together.

I was old for my first flight, 11 Years.

My cousin was born in Mumbai and flew home to Melbourne when she was about 2.5 weeks old, she is now 10 months old and has flown from Melbourne to KUL, AKL and DRW all in business.

Love it! My little man, who is due shortly, was first on a plane at 10 weeks post conception! He has, in utero, visited Africa, the UAE and Japan. I am most excited about getting his passport as we are off on another international adventure when he will be about 7 months old. Though I am hoping to do a domestic leg or two with him before then.

Where are you off to?

Countries we've been to a few times have been a total different experience with a little one in tow, especially Japan and Thailand! She stands out with red curls though!

Last time she flew she finally realized that what she was inside was the same as what she loves watching take off at the airport, watching the penny drop was hilarious!

She'll be traveling on her own seat for the first time next month and earning me some SC's :p

We are off to UAE again, the Maldives and probably Singapore (it's my 40th birthday present trip).

The gentleman and I love to travel and I don't want it to stop when my little man arrives. It is great to read this thread and have different AFF members talking about where their little ones have travelled to. I understand the experience will be different with a little person but a lot of people seem to think travelling is too hard with little kids (or indeed babies). So it gives me some hope!!

Travel early and often. Get as many trips in as possible while they are under 2 years of age (think free seat in J/F ;)) and before they hit high school (harder to take them out of school).....don't worry - your little one will be in high school before you know it!

We started with multiply short trips (mixture of beach/city) throughout Asia - Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Japan. When the youngest hit 8 we went for longer trips to Spain, France, UK and recently USA/Canada.

Africa is next followed by either Italy/Scandinavia or Sth America.

First flight was on a NZ Air Force Hercules at around 7 weeks. I apparently slept through it...

It's definitely different in a good way!

In Japan especially we were able to engage with locals on a whole different level!

As Amaroo said, get out early and often!

Little miss bass_ke is now 23 months old and has done 31 sectors, with the longest being around 8 hours.

We've found day time long hauls a hell of a lot easier than overnighters although our 1 overnighter was in Y, it's the only real disaster we've had so far and was probably due to a lack of foresight on our behalf.

Make sure you get out and do a couple of quick runs in Aus, it's the best way you can prepare!

We've got OOL - MEL - PER - SYD - CNS - HID - CNS - BNE coming up over the course of the next month and have prepared a little goody bag to come out each flight if and when she starts to get bored.

If you haven't looked into it babywearing works well when travelling. We've never travelled with a pram and can't imagine carting one around. Having her nap in an Ergobaby or Tula meant we were able to spend entire days out and carry on getting around whilst she was asleep in the carrier.

Enjoy your baby travels!

Going a bit off topic,

I was on a VA flight the other day and was sitting down the back due to a fly-a-head on a full E190.

There was a guy, who must have been in his mid to late 40's who was telling everyone who would listen, it was his very first flight in his life.

He did not seem frightened of flying. Maybe a little anxious of all the bumps and noises during takeoff and landing. He was definitely a very inexperienced traveler who does not get out much from wherever he lived. Some of his questions, comments and expectations were quite funny, (well they were for a frequent traveler). I did get a giggle out of a few of his comments.

Back on topic,

My kids have been flying since about 3 months of age and have done many flights domestic and international.

I have been flying since a very young age. I think my first flight was around the age of 3 years old. I am quite sure it was on a TAA flight. I think it was a DC-3 BNE to CNS. I remember having to walk up the aisle which was on steep angle and it was a prop aircraft.

Can't say I feel comfortable with this thread. I can understand there are reasons why babies are on planes but if possible it should be avoided in my opinion.

It is no fun for the baby, the parents or the other passengers.

I travelled plenty when I was a baby/kid/teenager - I turned out OK and the world kept on spinning.

This hasn't been the case for me, my two little ones or the countless families I've come across whilst travelling.

Babies bring joy wherever, you come across them....

Touché! This is certainly the case for the vast majority. fersea I'd suggest you are in the small minority.

Have to disagree. Miss G (3.5 now) first flew SYD -BNE at 5 weeks, to ADL at 9 weeks, to LHR -GLA at 5 months, Rome at 6 months, LHR - GLA again at 9 months, Fiji at 12 months, JNB / Capetown at 16 months and many more.

A few of those flights were tough going sure, but the majority actually were good fun.

And without those flights I wouldn't have wandered around Rome on my own with a baby at 7.00 am (kicked out so Mrs G could sleep), or come across herd of 100 elephants in South Africa with my daughter in a baby seat in the jeep - experiences I'll treasure for ever.
