You know you are a frequent flyer when ...

I'm currently in Doha and visited the Islamic Museum of Art this afternoon and it dawned upon me that the only reason I knew what colour a ruby, sapphire and emerald are is because I've looked for those little OW ovals at airports. :) I feel that the rubies look better than emeralds, but can't but help being drawn more to the latter... :)
We have a 24 hour stop over in Doha end of October, specifically so we can go to this museum.
Any tips? & for Doha generally.

Garnet and ruby probably. I dont like green so nope on the other. I'm a sapphire and diamond gal. :p

I'm a diamond, sapphire, tanzanite, pearl, opal gal myself ! :D When we were in Burma the fortune teller said I MUST wear a ruby ring on my right ring finger to bring me good fortune and health. So drron had to buy me a Burmese ruby ring ;)

Diamonds, opals & pearls for me. Don't own any other stones. (ok, the occassional kidney stone)
5 years with Angus & Coote/Dunklings many years ago has made me choosy.

How much did you bribe the fortune teller?

Ok. Back on topic.

If women were as clear and decisive in life-away-from-AFF as they express here, there would be so many beautiful marriages :)

Men aren't even clear and decisive here on AFF!

I have been with my wife for 28 years (and I am "only" 46!), but it was not until a few years ago, when in a moment of (for me) madness and prosperity, I purchased her a small emerald necklace from Colombia where I was working. Until that gift I had NO IDEA of the true power of jewellery :)

And if men were clear, decisive and PAID AS MUCH ATTENTION in life away from AFF as they do express here, they just might be married !

Apologise if this has been posted, but you know the remote control of the tv by memory in your hotel room.

I'm probably not the best to say as my layover was short and it was incredibly hot! The museum is nice and has some beautiful displays, but the customer service is humoursly bad. I considered a desert tour but it was going to cost 100s so I pulled the plug on that. I'm not really sure what else there is there. I only went there to try the A350. :)

The Museum of Islamic Art is worth a visit to Doha.
The Souq Waqif is fascinating and seems authentic even though in fact it was all demolished and rebuilt.
It only opens at 16:00 and is best visited once the day begins to cool.
It's within walking distance of the museum.

I'd forget everything else in Doha city.
Although the desert tours down to the "inland sea" on the Saudi border look good!
Unfortunately I ended up there on my own as my flight attendant friend (then) based in Abu Dhabi had given his passport to the US embassy for a visa.
I didn't feel like joining a group tour and the cost of the desert tour was too much for a single traveller.
