Hey AFF’ers - is it normal for seat selection on Y+ to be completely unavailable 4 weeks out from departure?

I’m SG and just getting the window/aisle preference option with no option to pick anything. I’ve checked expertflyer and the whole Y+ cabin is either taken and the other half of the cabin is blocked however seat availability shows plenty of Y+ seats available as does QF website. 2 other PAX on the flight I’m travelling with are also SG and getting the same on their seat selection.

I think something strange is going on at the moment with QF IT. Have had the same issue for a domestic flight tomorrow. I’ve been unable to select any seat for the last few days and nothing at check-in.

QF seat selection will revert to the Aisle/Window preference if a set percentage of the cabin has been pre-selected.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It can also happen if, for example, the seats available to select at that status level are either allocated or blocked. For example WP and P1/CL can get access to pre-allocate far more of most cabins prior to T-80ish. It could well be that there's no options to change to (currently) even if there are open seats viewable/selectable by higher status levels.

(or it's a bug)

As a silver i was able to pick my Y+ seat, when i booked a classic reward 10 months out (only first row was blocked out). I think it reverts to aisle/window once a certain % of the cabin is pre-allocated.
