Having spent time going through the routing process with the folks at the AA RTW desk, a quick question on the implications of ticketing currency.

The AA RTW Desk agent asked if I would like the ticket to be rated in AUD. Is there a difference if rated in USD versus AUD?

I am lead to believe that the price of a xONEx is based on departing port rather than currency. Is this correct?

The price of the ATW is based on the higher of the country of departure or the country of issuance of the ticket

The currency used will be the currency of the country of issuance. if you are planning to issue in Australia then ask for AUD and they will quote based on Australia price. If you were going to have it issued in the USA then get it quoted in USD and they will price based on the higher of the price ex-Australia and ex_USA

WOW....talk about quick!!!

I know this has been asked before, but what would be the process exMEL?

1. Call AA RTW to comfirm routing and to get pricing

At this point do I ask for the ticket to be ticketed in AUD and issued in Australia? How would this happen if the Sydney AA Office is closed?

2. Call AA RTW after 24 hours for pricing

3. Call Indian call centre for payment

The steps are correct. Get the pricing completed by the ATW desk ; they will hold the booking for 2 weeks without any hassle; before the 2 weeks is up, then phone the 1300 number and pay for the ticket. They will send you a credit card authorisation form. Just fill it in and fax/email it back and then the AA Sydney office will process the ticketing. The ticketing can take a few weeks if the travel isnt for a while since they process them such that they give priority to tickets for travel occuring soon

Thank you ever so much for the help Dave. Owe you quite a few beers for this.

If anyone is interested my routing now is:
MEL-AKL-SCL-LIM,
LPB-SCL-EZE,
GIG-SCL-MAD-LHR-DXB-LHR-HEL-HKG-KUL-HKG-PEK-HKG-MEL-CNS-BNE-MEL

Goes where I want it to and is a LONE4 rather than a LONE5. Only issue is the scarcity of seats on the SAM-EUR sector....but I am fairly flexible there.
