Update. EY are ambiguous in their name protocol. Even their pdf explanation indicates names should match passport details. So I made a dummy booking and it is only possible to enter first and family name to the booking.
You can all relax now. ;)

I rarely include my middle name, which is on my passport, on bookings and haven't experienced any problems travelling on a number of airlines including Etihad.

There was a post a while ago where VA in ADL would not uplift pax booked on a connecting EY flight SYD/AUH as the first name of booking & ticket was Sue and passport under the name Susan. See link below post #739 on page 37 by poster Henley Beach.

However your situation is a tad different as long as the booking is made under the first and last name as per passport. As Prozac reports above the EY website doesn't have a middle name field so not possible to enter one.
