Yep tuned out after the words 'first complaint', surprisingly he took 3 paragraphs to get there. I couldnt be bothered wading through this emotional rant. He could probably cut whatever this complaint is down to 300 words. Someone will never get those 45mins of his life back.

If you are going to complain....

1. Make it coherent
2. Get to the point

Anything else is a waste of keystrokes.

Hehe, the emotion is understandable, but still ... it's a bit excessive.

I particularly like these bits:
You had better. He’s an up and coming movie producer; who’s worked on projects both here and abroad. He won’t be doing any brand placement for you in his films down the track if you don’t pull your socks up Qantas!
I work in communications; I know that you have a stock standard template that responds to complaints like mine.

Then you missed the part where he "had to borrow my grandmother’s clothes that day, for a 9am commitment on Friday.". :p

Hey hey hey!!

Don't presume! It's the new age you know, i mean - why you gotta judge??

I loved this line:

I work in communications

As justchecking and aaronbradford said, communications need to be succinct. As someone who claims to work in Comms, the OP *should* be fully aware of basic principals that people tune out quickly to long copy. If this person worked for me, i'd send it back endorsed with tl;dr (too long, didn't read).

Further, there was no clear summary of the core issue within the first paragraph, nor was there a strong and clear closing of exactly what they want to rectify the issue. It also lacks the most basic letter writing etiquette and courtesy, important skills in my view which for a large part are lost on the internet generation (sorry guys).

And the whole "my friend's a movie producer" line - Girlfriend, Please. Most people know that kind of name dropping only infuriates those reading the communication, and makes the author look like a complete cough (see last week's Gasp Clothing PR disaster as a recent example of this).

Sent using my Roman era abacus.

Well given his friend's a producer of some note who flys to Cannes with 24hrs notice he could be Geoffrey Rush in which case the grandmothers clothes might be perfectly serviceable....

Well I actually *had* to read the full thing, just to see how far it really went (for the record - 14 complaints)!

I wonder if it's a total windup instead?? There are some gross inconsistencies with grammar and the total lack of succinct communication implies to me that maybe they do work in "communications" but in the mail room, not at the pointy end.;)

I've actually written something in a similar vein, and then sat on it for a few hours before rewriting to be more reader-friendly and a hell of a lot less whiney. And it actually worked! (Although it wasn't to an airline.)

Baggage gets lost, delays are there when strikes happen and everything under the sun can go against you. In this day and age, I'd be paying up for Travel Insurance both domestically and internationally - it's not worth the grief IMHO.

PS: How many of you have bought a pair of socks, a toothbrush and toothpaste for $25??? (Or have I been living in BKK way too long!)

Not as bad as I expected, there were around fifteen 'complaints', but yes, could have structured it better and made it a little more concise.
