Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

I suspect it's gunna cost the manufactures much of the $500m, not Woolies ...

We regularly use crumpets but have not paid more than $2 a pack all year. I see they are now $3.10 with $1.10 in funny money ... I'll just go across the road to Coles where they were $1.55 recently.

Your bang on the money!

All those various collector cards Woolies has been busy promoting over the last 2 years ..... Are financed by manufacturers.
( A friend of my works for a very large multinational Food manufacturer who negotiates theses type of promotional activities with supermarkets)

What the manufacturers get in return is publicity amongst all the marketing.

Maybe this is where it has all gone wrong for Woolies.... Spending too much time on promoting collector cards (that lets be honest, isn't appealing to a majority of customers) and not enough time on leveraging the benefits from having a relationship with another loyalty scheme ( ie Qantas) that does do data mining well.

Hah! They must have been reading my posts...

In response to a post on another thread, that you can no longer check Qantas points earned, even while you still earn over the next 9 week,s I logged on to my account - it's a new web site and I was redirected.

Looking around I saw I have a 'personalised' offer of $1.55 in 'itchy and scratchy' money if I buy a packet of whole meal crumpets for $3.10.

Sorry woolworths, $3.10 is too much up front- seriously, if it weren't for the fuel discounts which save me around $50 a year I would no longer bother.

I had a look around my account as well. They attempted to point out which of the products they thought I wanted to buy had woolworths dollars on them. There was only one product on the list that I actually buy which had Woolworths dollars on it. It's a product I actually usually pay full price on so it would have been a genuine saving. The problem is that I only buy the product once a year so it won't do me any good at the moment. There is an expiry on how long the product will have the woolworths dollars attached to it.

just got an email for MrsRadio, looks like they are trying to get staff on board
a snippet from the email

To celebrate this exciting change, you’ll receive a 10% WOW People discount when you spend $5 or more at Woolworths supermarkets, Woolworths online, BWS and Thomas Dux until the end of the year. That’s right, your 5% discount increases to 10% from 28 October until 31 December 2015^.

Your existing WOW People Discount Card gives you access to all the benefits of Woolworths Rewards, on top of this exclusive discount.

LOL. The "WOW People" cards... They forced them out on all staff last year. The only difference I could see from all the details about them was that the WOW People card forced staff into the everyday rewards program while with the old staff discount card, it was an opt in system.
I never activated the new card and refuse to use it. The office handling the staff discount program never replied to my questions about it.

My brother just sent me pictures of some orange tickets that weren't in the catalog - eg Dymo Letra Lt-100h, $49.99, earn $10 wowbucks, so 20% off. Also Ainsley H Cous Cous, $2.13 earn 32c. So I guess we wait and see how many ticketd items there are tomorrow. My receipt also just said "You have earnt at least 1 Qantas Point for each dollar over $30" rather than the actual number. And POS had wowbucks earnt at the bottom.

I found the transaction tracking screen in my account. It finally recognises shopping trips under $30. The funniest transaction this month is the one for 31 cents with a saving of $128.42. That was the transaction where I got $100 off my shop from the 4 week promotion.

Well... isn't that about right? Spend 20 grand to get a free ticket to Sydney, and still have to pay the taxes fees and Qantas imposed charges. And you can get a JQ ticket for $100 return or whatever.

I think ACA and the like to do a good job to manage expectations.
It is not just Qantas though.

Received an email from Bangkok Airways with 70% off redemptions but pay the taxes. A domestic redemption BKK-CNX is now 30 points + 650 baht + airport taxes which are ~100 baht. I can usually buy the airfare for ~1500 baht.

The normal cost of the redemption is 100 points and the earning for BKK-CNX is 5 points. So after 20 flights I get a "free" flight for half the cost of a full flight.

I propose the Woolworths threads to be downgraded into the Shopping programs thread.

Also this guy noted what a WW exec said last year.
This push for insurance has gone way out of control.

Reminds me of that hotel booking site that charges much more than any other booking site, and they include breakfast and many more hotel/airline points for the booking.
The idea is you get your company to pay the inflated rate and you cash in on the perks at a greater rate than you otherwise could. The business failed.

woolies already have deleted the option of converting your discounts to qantas points..you have to contact them to make the change

This week's Rewards don't excite me. Of the 374 items shown online IIRC I have may have previously purchased 9 of them. This could be a slow start to my first $10. However I will do well at Coles in the next three weeks.

Received an email from my Woolworths Credit Card today... "There's no change to your credit card".

You should have received some news recently that the Woolworths Everyday Rewards program will become Woolworths Rewards.

We just wanted to let you know that there is no change to your Woolworths Money Qantas Platinum credit card, and you can continue to enjoy all your credit card rewards program benefits including earning Qantas Points when you use your credit card for eligible purchases.

Soon you will receive a new Woolworths Rewards membership card. For your convenience you can continue to scan the barcode on the back of your credit card because your membership number is not changing.

Here's how to continue to enjoy 2 great rewards program with the one card:

Scan the barcode on the back of your credit card to earn Woolworths Dollars plus other exciting new benefits when you shop at Woolworths Supermarkets and BWS. Also, continue to earn Qantas Points via Woolworths Rewards until 31 December 2015.

Pay with your Woolworths Money Qantas Platinum Credit Card to continue earning Qantas Points on eligible purchases through the Woolworths Qantas Rewards Program.

It's good that I don't have to carry around the new card separate from having the bar code on the back of the credit card.

Can anyone give any tips on how to actually log into the new site - for 2 days I have been getting the message:

Sorry, we are unable to process your request right now. Please try again later.

Ha!

Good luck with that.

I got kicked off their online shopping.

First got an error msg that my login details were incorrect... so i tried to reset my password.

Was then told my email address was not registered... so i tried to set up a new acct with that email address and was told i already had an acct :headdesk:

This was before the new online site.

Anyway tried to raise it with them on woolies facebook page... they reset my everyday rewards acct... thankfully that turned out okay even though it meant that my emailed address changed for that acct.

I tried again after the launch of the new site - still the same issue and I gave up.

Does this mean that we have to "opt-in" if we want to continue earning Qantas points until 31 Dec?
