Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

This is certainly an improvement on the current worthless scheme. But it's not enough to win me back as a customer.

I note on the leaked document that Woolworths thinks the new scheme will "win the hearts and minds of customers". Um... they're basically just copying the Flybuys scheme! How about trying to be better than Flybuys?

Make no mistake, anyone earning Qantas points will still be ~50% worse-off under this new scheme than the old arrangement of 1 QF point per dollar over $30.

If the new WW scheme is as predicted, which seems likely, it is a long way short of making me change my buying habits. I was 100% WW loyal under the original scheme. Now I shop based on price and, most importantly, convenience. That ain't gunna change with this new version. It may be less of a stuff-up but it is still a stuff-up.

i also mostly shop for convenience, except for certain things of course. That means i normally shop online and ww suits me fine for that. I am pleased that some improvement has been made.

Not quite true. If you average shop is less than $54, you'll be better off with the new scheme. The lower value your average shop, the better value the new scheme is.

As the new WW scheme is almost an exact copy of FB, it will now all come down to the bonus points on offer. The base points earn in both schemes is very poor (0.5% return on spend).

FB send weekly bonus coupons out for the following quarter (product, triple point and spend target) along with weekly docket deals (when their system is working) and email bonuses. I have been lucky enough to get a triple triple bonus on a Coles shop (triple points coupon, docket and email, which is only 7pts/$ total).

It is the bonus point opportunities that will make or break the revised scheme. I have not received anything at all from WW since March and alot of spend has therefore gone to Coles (I only joined FB at the start of the year when WWR was rolled out).

As someone who rarely spends over $30 in a single shop, I will most likely earn far more with 'attempt 3' of WWR/EDR. It will also markedly increase the scan rate of WWR cards as it was pointless scanning previously if you are not earning anything.

Very poor offer IMO my wife says no to this and will not be gong back and now shops at Coles & Aldi, its a joke.

The offer is better than the original if you spend less than $54 on average per shop. And it is otherwise identical to the Coles offer. Is is certainly better than the Aldi frequent flyer program :)

It will get me back into WW. But only if the offers are comparable with Coles.

This will also increase my scan rate. After getting the first W$10, I would only scan my card for transactions between $5 and $9.99. Anything less then $5 (even $4.99) didn't get me anything. Anything over $9.99 would trigger use of the $W when I didn't want it to.
With the new system, even spending $0.65 will get me something.

I hope they will send out more offers with the changes. Since the program change last Oct, I have not gotten a single offer that was not sent to everyone.

Just checked my inbox and trash folders... There are no emails from Woolies other than an invitation to a survey with a CHANCE to get a wish card. Maybe they know that Mrs WF joined the "other store's" program... Though apparently she still gets the random email from Woolies.

Happy wandering

Fred

My guess is that they won't send any more targeted offers until after the changes come into place.

Luckily I've got a general offer coupon which I picked up at the petrol station which gives me $10WWD for spending over $100. We're having a party tomorrow so the timing is great.

There are some offers listed to come out next week, but they are all product based and have very low send rates (under 200k).

Those coupons you mention were to be handed out for each customer in store (VIC and ACT) for $10 the following week.

I guess you could split up the purchase of 1000 1c grapes?

The current system with targeted offers is ok for us.

Spend $2,000 to receive $10 is not worth going out of the way to achieve.

Do we think it makes sense to keep you WW dollars this week to as close to 9.99 as possible, ready for the transfer which means only a small spend to get the QFF points in the new scheme?

Himeno, don't you get 5% staff discount on any spend over $5? If so why wouldn't you scan over $10? Surely the 5% discount is worth more than any potential QFF points?

just break your shopping down to units of less than $10 - so you won't trigger an auto $10 reward. Of course the people behind you in the queue may not thank you for that approach!

If I scan it for a transaction over $10, it would trigger the W$ spend, which I didn't want. Thus, the times I have a shop over $10, I have been splitting into a number of transactions at the self serve, aiming for each to be between $5 and $9.99.

The annoying thing about the staff discount is that if you have a $5.00 spend, you end up paying less then a $4.98 or $4.99 spend. (Even though $4.98 rounds up to paying $5, the discount doesn't kick in)

I'm about to ditch my Macquarie Woolworths credit card.
Has anyone heard of extra Qantas points coming from purchases using this card?
