Called up today to cancel the card in the effort to have the annual fee waived for the next 12 months, First guy I spoke to said that all he could offer was 1,000 QFF points and I would have to pay the $89 fee... My reply was that it in fact would be a better idea if I cancelled my account and had Mrs Shintaro apply for a $0 annual fee (for the first 12 months) plus also a sign-on of 5,000 QFF....
I was then promptly put onto the cancellations department and discussed my plan with the customer service rep, he said that I had a very good point and that he was happy to waive the $89 fee for the next 12 months....
All in all a 5 min call saved $89, which I intend to spend at BWS tonight on some nice red wine (20% off six bottles + 5% off for EDR barcode scanning) Mrs Shintaro also has a bonus offer at BWS this week - Spend $30 for 300 bonus QFF....
So in summary I'm going to get
6 bottles of Penfolds 389 +
217 Standard QFF points +
300 Bonus QFF points all for an outlay of a mere $128.50 taking into consideration my $89 saving from the phone call today (works out to $21.42 per bottle for some nice penfolds..!)
I love milking the system, anyone think I could have done better lol
Edit: Yes in fact I could have done better but it would have meant Mrs Shintaro getting all the QFF points on the basis that I had to then be a supplementary card holder... plus the stuffing around for another application...!
