Woolworths gift card thread

I'm happy with the offer. Will be buying the maximum permitted of 5 per day as long as I can find enough cards. They do seem to sell out.
You get 1000 EveryDay reward points for a $100 card worth $5 for a cost of $5.95.

EDR points are not worth a fixed amount. They are worth different amounts depending on what you redeem them for.

There is also the opportunity cost, how many free points are you missing out on by buying these cards and pushing up your spend xx_x get xx_ points weekly offers. I miss the days of buying petfood for the local shelter…..

Yes at Coles, but not for Woolworths.

We'd all like free points (I benefited from millions of fee free credit card sign up bonus points), but those days are gone. The reality is that the game is always changing. If you aren't prepared to adapt, you'll be left behind. I'm always happy to wave when I turn left when boarding a plane.

My Woolworths spend xx_ get xx_ points offers have skyrocketed since I had gift card spend, they don’t pay points on the spend outside promo offers but their algorithm definitely takes the $$$ into account when generating incentives to increase your spend, hence my warning about the opportunity cost.

Think my son will be the only one buying gift cards in the future ;), for a high schooler he spends a bit earning points.

It hasn't changed to the degree that these miserly offers would have you believe. Coles have recently run two better promotions on prepaid gift cards from the same company (InComm) and will do so again.

Woolworths could do more here but they probably just decided that removing the variable load cards and changing nothing else would be the easiest solution. If only they shared Coles' willingness to experiment then we might have had something like 8x points on the variable cards or 20x points on the $100s.
