Convenient for the Kings son who is rumoured to be lobbying for the job.

There were extenuating circumstances initially with the floods (and of course they have the most flights being their home base) but seemingly recovery was abysmal for TG only. The other airlines seemed to cope ok using external contractors instead of in house staff.

There have been rumours for a while that he wasn’t going to stay too much longer. So the right moment suddenly arrived.

So what didn't the TG CEO do that he could have done in the midst of a severe flooding in Bangkok?

The questions being asked are why all other airlines had a minor blip and everything back to normal (aside from weather/ airport induced delays) within 24hrs but despite assistance from army/airforce many many thousands of TG passengers missed connecting flights and some still waiting 4 days for luggage.

The CEO of a government business serves his political masters and if they decide he has to go then he goes.

So, basically come back to the same question. What didnt he do that he could have done?

Not being there and not seeing any proper analysis of what TG was doing, cannot answer.

Friends of ours who went thru BKK earlier in the week are in Europe still waiting for their luggage as of an hour ago and no idea when they will receive it and no communication. Their airtags are indicating their bags are in Istanbul for some reason.

Ok I just saw this online (LL site)

“
The board of directors of Thai Airways International Public Co Ltd on Friday dismissed Chief Executive Officer Chai Eamsiri following the widespread mismanagement of flight schedules and severe baggage backlogs during heavy flooding in the capital that started Sep 25.

The board cited persistent operational failures—ranging from extensive flight delays and baggage handling chaos to broader ground service breakdowns—as the rationale for Mr Chai’s termination, noting that the issues have sparked a formal inquiry into the accountability of senior executive management.

Led by Chairman Lavaron Sangsnit, the board resolved to appoint Samrit Samniang as full-time acting chief executive officer in place of Mr Chai, tasking him with urgently resolving the operational crises plaguing the national flag carrier.

A former executive of PTT Exploration and Production Plc and a current Thai Airways board member, Mr Samrit must swiftly stabilise operations, clear backlogs and work to restore passenger and public trust.

Concurrently, a committee has been established to investigate separate allegations against Mr Chai concerning the procurement of 860,000 bottles of wine valued at more than 800 million baht from a single vendor. …

Thai Airways stated following Friday’s board meeting that it will re-examine its management structure to prevent recurring disruptions. Moving forward, the company will also review its employment frameworks for ground and warehouse personnel, particularly regarding multi-tiered subcontracting and external outsourcing. …”

So a whole lot of issues not just relating to the flood meltdown and also prioritising servicing other airlines needs rather than their own customers

There's also the 'coincidence' that the eldest son of the King (who is a US citizen with no title) happens to have recently applied for the job
