From another thread

This is what my coughpie maths gets me

$105.95 at 5% off is 100.65

You get an extra amex Mr using Plat edge. Costing you 65c per 100 or 0.65% if comparing with explorer

Or s lot more extra points if you can't use amex /PayPal.

So if the place only accepts visa and you get 0.5 to 1 pt per dollar. You get up to 2.5 pls extra for 0.65%

How is my maths

That seems right. One of the few I get stuck with is DEFT for strata fees.

Provided the prepaid visas work ok, it does come out as a slight saving using 10 x $100 cards plus the 3PPD on Platinum Edge

I was just doing a few sums in my head. Hypothetically If I did 10k lots and could pay my amex card without the otc fee. It would cost $65 and I would earn 30k amex points.
Although the points are great. $65 is a cost (probably worth it for many) but on top of it the amount of time youd have to spend doing these gift cards.

Just gotta to show the fee free offers are ridiculosuly awesome

Had a fail with this.

Purchased a $105.95 egift card and went to purchase the $100 prepaid visa. Payment for $105.95 went through and came off the gift card, however the prepaid visa wouldn't activate and gave the staff a "do not sell" message. They were surprisingly helpful and didn't seem to know what was wrong... but I dare say paying with an egift card isn't doable for these. They refunded onto a wish card.

That's interesting. I know each store has a different policy or no policy. I've only bought one set of gift cards and they were the $88 ones and wish gift cards were fine self service.
Interesting if buying gift card with gift cards is actually not allowed for not

This was at Rockdale NSW. Could be worth trying elsewhere to see if it was maybe a system error or something one off.

There's a possibility that for these specific prepaid Visa cards there are different requirements to the EFTPOS or other gift cards (might be to do with possibility for online or overseas spending with a visa?)

So 2000 pts is worth about $10 so $4.05 in front

How are you guys cashing out your pts?

Just a question for some one who has never purchased one of these before
If you are buying $1k worth of cards. Do you have to do ten separate transactions? To get the 2,000*10. Woolworths points
Also. In terms of scale of good deals. How does this rate compared to various gift card promotions throughout the year?

I don't know about your maths but I am concerned about your English. Where is the '?' at the end of the sentence?

It's hard to get to the question mark on both a standard keyboard and a smartphone keyboard or whatever it's called on a smartphone.

I am guilty sometimes of leaving off the question mark at the end of an obvious question.

Is there a limit in this promotion of how many times each member can get the 2000 points? See, I remembered the question mark this time. When Coles/Flybuys run this type of promotion it is usually one gift card per membership card.

I wonder if we can use Wish cards for this type of pre paid card.

Dr Ralph, is this a targeted promo or for everyone?

Everyone. It's featured in the catalogue which starts this Wednesday.

You'll see I posed these same question in message #46

Dont believe we will know the answers until at least Wednesday when someone is the guinea pig.

So what do you think. Assuming you can use wish gift cards. Is this a screaming bargain?

$10 in woolworths points
Minus $5.95 in activation fees
$5.35 in wish discount

Net position 8.9% discount
Plus all the benefits of the visa card and bonus points.

Sounds better than the cny card deal!

I suspect the wish cards won't work (didn't for me anyway). Might be worth a dry run today before the promo starts.

if this is the case, then maybe wish gifts work for gift cards but not visa cards

still without hte 5% off , your going to be $4.05 better off or 3.8% + visa card benefits+bonus points

id definitely give it a shot once we work out whether its 10 cards per transaction or per account

so excited

Discounted wish gift cards can be used to purchase Only 1 VISA gift cards (or at least they can at my local WOW).

Asked my local WOW why they never have any of the required gc. They said that the gc are topped by someone who comes in once a month. :( I don't expect to see any supply of this coming week's offer.

maybe they will stock up in the next coming days for this offer !!

Assuming the 2,000 bonus points is per gift card (and for simplicity will exclude discounted wish cards), does the EDR reward work something like....

1st card purchased costs $105.95 w 2,000 EDR earnt
2nd card purchased costs $95.95 ($10 applied from above) w 2,000 EDR earnt
....and so on?
