Hmm. Just called my local racv shop they don't accept amex.....

Anyone got any ideas on getting g physical gift cards with 5% off while using amex??

I'm becoming a serial points hoarder!

Lovetravellingoz I have just canned the Amex Velocity Platinum CC to be able to get that Platinum Edge card. I can do about $30,000 of Woolies gift cards and just over 90,000 Kris Miles gets a Suites ride out of Singapore to London.
Thanks for mentioning it a couple of days ago. I should have this new card next week.

Unfortuantely I dont have much discretionary spending, and spend mostly on overseas trips so nothing really appealed to me except wish gift cards and jetstar vouchers, and possibly the odd jbhifi purhcase when needed, I wonder if the Jetstar vouhcers have an activation fee? could be another 5% discount for flights!!

Thanks. But 'm not sure how useful this will be. My understanding is that these vouchers differ from store to store. It may have been more useful if you'd actually named the store you went to.

They do. It's stated on the gift card packaging.

You may need to check this for all of those cards that you listed above.

it gives people an idea of what they may find in their store, as I dobut every store is going to be very different

also the Jetstart one didn t have any mention of a activation fee, front or back

Sorry I may have been confused between the Jetstar (what you call Jetstart) card and the Flight Centre card which you didn't mention in your post.

EDIT: I see you called the Flight Centre card FLight Cetnre

so

so the 3 woolworths I went to with identical gift cards on the shelf was a pure coincidence???!?!?!

im sure you dont need to be einstein to work out that Jetstart might be a typo of Jetstar????

Maybe im just smart
please accept my apologies to you

I agree with BettyB: each supermarket is different.

One Woolworths may be a smaller store than another. It will have different demographics from the next one two or three kilometres away. This influences the range carried: I do not believe each has an identical range of gift cards.

In an inner suburb that may have fewer children and families, and more young 23 - 35 year old singles, there's not as much perceived need to carry gift cards that appeal to families.

RACQ don't charge delivery.
When buying through RACQ, the web page states there is a delivery fee, but that is not charged. There is an option for "minimal packaging" which I always select (don't need the cardboard card carriers), so not sure if they charge the delivery fee if not selecting the Minimal Packaging option. Delivery is by registered mail.

These are the precise details but the crux of it is that there is no delivery charge. I don't believe it matters if you select full packaging.

ok, i feel like ive acheived something in my life,

have been looking for a way to get 5% off PLUS physical cards plus no delivery

since cash rewards dont do free delivery,
in store racv dont accept amex

but I used my friends racv number and it came up with free delivery using the amex card,

im very impressed ;)

From another thread

This is what my coughpie maths gets me

$105.95 at 5% off is 100.65

You get an extra amex Mr using Plat edge. Costing you 65c per 100 or 0.65% if comparing with explorer

Or s lot more extra points if you can't use amex /PayPal.

So if the place only accepts visa and you get 0.5 to 1 pt per dollar. You get up to 2.5 pls extra for 0.65%

How is my maths
