Natalie Davenport fined for airport security breach (from news.com.au)

A WOMAN who broke through a security gate at Brisbane airport to catch a closed flight says she is "just a mum, not a terrorist".

Natalie Davenport, from Cairns, had pleaded guilty to illegally cracking a plastic case to release an airbridge security gate and trying to board a Jetstar flight on January 12.

Not sure how to respond to this one. She still missed the plane.

Surprised that many people have not shown empathy for her considering that the airline in concern is ... JQ

The JQ gates are basically in the middle of BNE domestic.
Second if it was that important to get home why leave it until the last minute to get to the airport?
So she had done OLCI?Must then know something of the proceedure.
She had probably selected a window seat-why are they always the last to board?Sorry irrelevant I know but my recent pet peeve.

I've got no sympathy for her. BNE is not that big, dropping someone off at the wrong end should not cause problems. (Unless she was dropped off at Int).

Even if she had to walk an extra 2 minutes to get to JQ, she should not be turning up with that shorter amount of time to spare.

As for breaking into the gate, well what did she expect, JQ would say "oh that's alright, we don't mind"...

Interesting; she was actually airside, but operated the emergency release on the air-bridge doors from the the concourse ... before running down the air-bridge!

I’m not sure what the difference would have been if it wasn’t JQ, if the flight has been closed, and someone arrives late and uses an emergency switch to try get on the plane they’d get the same outcome.

Bad call at the time, but the consequences could have been much worse.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for anyone who knowingly breaches any part of airport security and is then caught.

There's enough signage around the place which makes it crystal clear what's allowed, and what's not allowed. She was an unauthorised person who attempted to gain entry to a restricted area of a facility, and I think the book wasn't thrown at her hard enough.

She's lucky it didn't happen in a SE Asian country, as she would have got an even bigger fright than you get from our pathetic AFP officers. Expect sub-machine guns and officers who are trained to shoot on site, no questions asked.
