I think if there is chocolate festival that requires a flight to attend @JessicaTam will have it high on the priority list.

A highlight of the festival will be the horizontal single-origin chocolate tasting session. Anyone who has never done one of these has not lived (but watch out, you will never be able to enjoy Cadbury's again 😜). There are also sessions for chocolate-beer pairing and chocolate-whisky pairing.

Blurb from the organisers-

The festival will give people the opportunity to experience the many tastes and textures of craft chocolate, easily comparable to the experience of tasting craft beer or fine wine. Through the different producers, you'll be invited to try some of the many flavours of bean varieties and learn more about the techniques and origins that influence the final product.

Along with an abundance of blocks and bites, Wellington’s tastiest laneway will also offer everything from chocolate beer to chocolate pizza and specially created desserts from surrounding local businesses. The festival also includes the opportunity to learn about the process of bean to bar.

The 'will they won't they' is doing my head in more than the disappointment would if I knew I definitely wasn't going.

NZ Herald is reporting today "The Prime Minister this morning indicated the transtasman bubble will resume shortly with the exception of New South Wales which would remain paused". (I have no idea whether the NZ Herald is a reliable source or not!)

We’re booked for Friday and I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

NZ Herald is reasonably reliable.

Sounds like the bubble will reopen this week (except with NSW) and that pre-departure testing, paid for by the traveller, will be required.

From the NZ travel bubble thread:
From 11.59pm on Sunday night, quarantine-free travel will resume with South Australia, the Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania and Victoria.

This decision was made “in principle” based on the current Covid-19 situations in those particular states. The travel pause will continue with New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia due to their respective Covid-19 clusters.

Those coming into New Zealand from Australia will now have to get a pre-departure test within 72 hours before their flight, Hipkins confirmed. Partially lifting the pause is an appropriate course of action, particularly when bolstered with a pre-departure test requirement, said Hipkins.

And the ABC: Australia-New Zealand travel bubble set to resume with some states

I will now be a non-starter. *sigh*

I will also be a non-starter, seeing that the chocolate festival is on Saturday 😢

It appears to be snowing in WLG though which would be too cold for me ❄️

Still very sad about missing this, especially for 0 cases in WLG and 0 general community transmission cases in ADL + I'm double vaxxed. I should be gorging on artisan single origin chocolate right now 😢

But to my surprise I did get a refund on my Chocstock ticket, although I lost $1.30 on the forex rate. So financially the bubble bursting has turned out ok. Emotionally, not so much 😢😡😢
