Wine lovers musings, amusings and news

Vintec: I had 2 large and 1 "bar fridge" size. One of the large is still going some 12 years later, one large broke after 2ish years and the bar fridge size one I stopped using some 5+yrs ago and just recently gave to my cousin who the next month got a really high electricity bill so we think it was broken.

ot , but the little Sanyo fridge in the wet bar has to be 30 if it's a day..works perfectly…. they don't make 'em like that anymore

My cousin had a 40 bottle vintec 8 years ago, working fine until 3 years later, the temp. Display is not working and time to upgrade so he bought a 280-300 bottle liebherr and keep the vintec to store veggies and defrost meat for bbq’s.

I have 3 Vintecc Fridges, one is the big one (Dual Zone) bought about 12 / 13 years ago, it has never missed a beat. the two small (Penfolds first Promo) fridges are also still going strong

I had a Vino Vault which lasted about 10 years. I now have a DeLonghi which is great

Unless I am mistaken didn’t Vintec / Penfolds / Dans have semi regular promos where you could buy a Vintec stocked full of Penfolds?

I haven’t seen a promo for a fair while

I think that is about what I want Buzz - in fact I want 2 - but I want them full of higher end Penfolds - price very flexible

I have just about had it with the dude who calls me from Langtons - time we had a change - anybody here actually booted their broker to the curb and sought out a new one?

Gave mine the boot 2 years ago. Worse than a car salesman. Never sought out a new one, quite happy doiting it myself and with the help of our AFF group.

Tks Rug - he has given me a few good deals over the journey but lately I get the feeling he knows more about where my hard earned shekels should be spent.

Another plea for help - anybody with Halliday year by year ratings of 407 for last 15yrs or so at their fingertips?

in case it helps, Jeremy Oliver's scores for 1990-2017 are publicly available

also re Langton's brokers, I find that they're best for broker-only offers such as $50 vouchers :)
