Fujitsu won't be accepting AMEX as a method of payment for the upgrade to Windows 7
Will there actually be anyone purchasing an upgrade to Windows 7? I have heard that it is much worse than Vista....

I'll get to try it out for myself soon, but the reports I have had from people using it is that it is better than Vista (or is what Vista should have been). These are people that installed Vista went back to XP. They seem happy with Windows 7.

I'm not sure who you have been speaking to.. everyone I have spoken to has nothing but praise for Windows 7 over Windows Vista. I know Skoogle loves it.

I'm running it on my media PC and it runs pretty well, but a media PC doesn't have all that much to do really.

Well it would appear that we have not been speaking to the same people then.

Skoogle loves it = good? That smacks of argumentum ad verecundiam to me. :p

Not that I'm critical of Windows 7 - I haven't tried it, so no reason to be. But FWIW I've read more news feeds that are praising of Windows 7 than critical. Most of the critical feeds are actually more telling what M$ needs to do to avoid another Vista-gate (or ME-gate).

Mind you, had M$ done a lot better coordination with hardware vendors to create drivers for Vista, it would have been a substantially better OS - not bulletproof, but hardware incompatibilities leading to useless systems and instabilities was certainly a big chestnut.

Me, on the other hand, is IMHO worse than Vista (cf. many experts who consistently rank Vista as the #1 tech mistake in the last decade but Me has dropped out of the top ten). No significant change to 98 and crashed more times than its predecessor, which was bad enough as it was anyway! In fact, M$ probably did something right when they decided to base XP on the NT architecture rather than the 9x one.

From Mac OSX, that would be a bit of a downgrade, surely? ;)
*runs*

Mac OSX? Isn't that just Linux for babies and fruitcakes? ;) :p

On a more serious note, what's all this got to do with Amex?

Citing skoogle supported the previous sentence that people Flashware had spoken too thought Windows 7 was good.

i.e. Skoogle loves it = exampe of person I have spoken to that says its good

Of course they would be happy - just about anything would be better than Windows Vista!

A punch in the kidneys would be better than Vista:!:

I'll see your statement and raise you to....

I'd sooner be dead and in Hell than use Windows Me.:mad::mad:

If Microsoft had died and been totally incarcerated due to that poor excuse of an OS, I would have had absolutely no sympathy at all.

Now you know where I'm coming from, I don't mind Vista for that reason, however of course I'm not exactly enamoured with it.

I wasn't even aware that there's a new Windows... I might go check it out as i hate Vista.

Hear hear!

IMHO Vista is "just" acceptable in the x86 version. The x64 verision is rediculous (even running a 64bit system) and should be thrown on the scrap heap with ME.

Windows 7 however seems to be exactly what Vista was meant to be.

Mac OSx? Lets leave that for another thread shall we? :P

Give me one common user operating system that actually works and takes advantage of the full capabilities of the 64-bit architectural platform.

And if it's not the OS which is the issue then the peripheral applications will. Not that some of them may not work, but rather many are still designed for 32-bit architectures, i.e. waste of processing potential when run on a 64-bit. Add to this hardware and bus interfaces - the world isn't ready yet for 64-bit computing.

the world isn't ready yet for 64-bit computing.

Agreed.

Hence my post :)

I tried x64 Vista with a full 64bit system and had nothing but trouble with drivers/software. Even the most simple things were a nightmare to get working and to be honest not worth the effort.

As long as I have a server at home i can jump into from anywhere in the world then I'm a happy camper. :p
