Window shades pulled completely down

On Thursday 22 August, I traveled on UA 824 from LAX to BOS.

It was a daytime transcontinental flight in good weather.

Sure, I did not have a window seat. The atmosphere inside the plane was a like a movie theatre with every window shade down. Understandable considering almost everyone was looking at some sort of screen.

I may be a little old fashioned but on a clear day I find it fascinating to look down on the countryside we are passing over. Even if it’s only an occasional glimpse while standing up.

Guess this observation makes me an old fashioned dinosaur but I wonder if any others share my feelings?

My previous international trip to Japan was similar. I did much rail travel and on mist occasions the window curtains were pulled down thereby limiting any attempt to view the scenery.

I don't usually get a choice as I have to sit beside Mrs D in the middle seat section. However, when I occasionally fly solo I love to look out. And I was the only one who DIDN'T pull my blinds down at 1pm on a flight from AMS -SIN. I did comply at about 4 hours in so we could all get some shuteye

So, now a second Window Shades thread. Anyone want to start a third one? 😃

It's not as if there is only one thread on any one subject on AFF. Have a search on LAX layover, transiting in Sydney, etc and you might find 6-10 on each!

Usually the mods combine threads that are on the same topic? Or maybe close down the ancient threads?

Or, perhaps, some AFF members look for existing threads on a topic rather than start new ones? ;)
