In the spirit of giving, here is what would entice me to fly PER-LHR-PER direct on Qantas.
All business class config
Putting the exclusivity back into flight. Would also mean QF could justify a price premium, cost savings on weight (fuel burn, catering, baggage, etc.) reduced liability, more flexibility, less crew.
First class Perth lounge
Allow access for all pax on LHR direct, and OWE/EK Plat etc. There needs to be a ground services drawcard to take the flight for eastern based customers. Caters for revenue from other airlines in Per to top tier pax.
Increased status credit & points earn
The direct flight will earn fewer points/sc than all other options, so, to cater to the userbase who have high loyalty propensity take-up, AND to justify the price premium, offer a 25% status credit and points bonus.
The current proposed config and product essentially catering only to WA-based passengers.
It's not a game changer and quite frankly has no sex appeal.
