Those in Adelaide will remember the Hyatt, before it folded and became something else (maybe 10+ years ago). Never went back to the hotel after that and now stay at the Hilton Adelaide.

I stayed at the Hyatt a few times and enjoyed it, although found the rooms to be a bit on the small side. Great views over the Torrens and parkland.

Edit: Also enjoy the Park Hyatt, Canberra. I think that Melbourne still has two options

Melboune has three if you count the HP at Essendon fields. They run a shuttle to/from MEL.

+ another CBD property is being built.

Great to Hyatt enter back into the SEQ market - from a selfish perspective I'm a bit bummed though as I can't see me ever really using it being out of the City.

When announced it will be interesting who bags the proposed hotel in Dexus' massive Eagle St development 'Waterfront Precinct', you would think that as part as a SEQ strategy for any chain that would be a perfect location for one of your upscale brands.

Stunned. Except for the part where it's a limited service property; that's entirely in line with Hyatt's announcements.

Still, four years away. We'll see.

". . . the new Hyatt will join Brisbane’s high-end hotel boom" [emphasis added]. Umm, no.

Yeah a Hyatt Place is definitely not 'high end'

Lol, while the Valley is a bit of a ho-hum destination, the location they have shown in their map seems like it's in an even more downmarket suburb!
While I'm no massive fan of the Valley either, the Valley though has been seeing some shift of businesses moving their office from the city due to it having a lower rental cost, while still easily accessible and close to the city. You'd expect this growth to continue as there's still quite a bit of development activity going on.

This SLH hotel you'd think will probably get more use from a Hyatt loyalist then the recently announces Hyatt Place at the south-end of Woolloongabba.

Yes, my company is one of those which is based in the Valley. Unfortunately there are still lots of empty shops in the immediate area which doesn't add too much to the decor. I have noticed other companies moving in but most of the recent ones seem to be in the RNA development area on King St rather than the 'old' Valley area. For example, AFAIK the old TC Beirne building hasn't had a big tenant come in after BCC moved out and it got renovated.

As for Acacia Ridge (which is where the map shows the Ovolo being), I don't think it has fully recovered since the car manufacturers moved out decades ago.

Looks like the map on the website is VERY wrong. The Ovolo is at the northern end of the Valley.
