"The A330s will be slowly replaced by a slate of factory-fresh Boeing 787s, with four new 787-9s due in 2028 and the first of six 787-10s – which will carry more passengers over a slightly shorter range – streaming in from 2031"

Why a 3 year gap between 787 deliveries? Did QF stuff up fleet ordering that badly?

It was well known that the previous CEO exhibited traits more like a person from Scotland than Ireland when it came to spending money on new aircraft, as a result Qantas are behind many airlines in the aircraft queue.

With this refurb now removing those economy front row 23 window seats, it seems now 8 are in that configuration.
Seems the list is incorrect. EBQ has just done QF15/16 and has the old configuration. EBO was operating much of late August with the old config. as well, but has not been used so far this month.

EBR is doing the route today and has the Economy plus configuration.

Speaking of economy plus configuration, do we know how many planes have been configured?

I'm surprised by the number of crew rest seats.
Did QF decide not to install a modular lower deck mobile crew rest (LDMCR). on its A330s?
Is cargo space more valuable than passenger seats?

No, i don't think these planes were ever planned to fly these sorts of distances initially. I have to imagine the logic with the refurbished version is also that it is very temporary that these 330s will be called for long haul flying. As soon as the new 787s start arriving, I imagine they'll be pushed into the long haul routes and these 330s will shift into the medium haul only.

Qantas did not originally design the fit out of these aircraft for 13 hour flights.

QF15/QF16 are operating at the extreme end of the 332 range and reducing PAX numbers by 10% gives them more leeway.

Another layout is used for Asia flights where just 4 economy seats are for crew rest.

There's 21 seats being set aside; one business seat* and a centre block of 5 rows of 4 economy.

*While there is likely a pilot's rest behind the coughpit, that is not enough for flights of this length.

What does it mean by new? I thought none of the 332s have been in for a refurb yet ?

EDIT - so these are the old seats just with economy plus. (These aircraft won’t get refurbished)?
