Will there ever be a Hyatt property in SEQ?

It seems strange to me that Hyatt has no footprint in Australia's third largest area.

There is and has been a whole lot of luxury hotel development in Brisbane in particular and I would have thought Hyatt may be on that list (or maybe hoped ).

Do you think Hyatt will ever have a property in SEQ?

SEQ. When I saw the thread title I had to look up that airport code as I didn’t recognise it: Sungai Pakning Bengkalis Airport (SEQ), Indonesia.

Yes - but I think the switch was a lot more than 6 years ago.

Interesting, looks like it was a similar time when Coolum left as well.

So they had 2 up until the end of 2012, then nothing, and still nothing.

Unfortunately, it wasn't of that much use to me when I returned home. Hyatt have a very limited (and diminishing) foot-print in Australia. Pity, because I like the brand.

I agree, Hyatt is a great brand, hence the reason I asked if anyone thinks they'll ever get (another) hotel in SEQ.

Good brand but I agree, poor footprint in Australia and in NZ, which means it's not likely to ever be my status brand again. Fortunately direct approaches to hotels have seen me get much of the elite benefits despite zero status, so not a big deal.

For me, Hyatt has the best status recognition of the major loyalty programs which made it worth the effort for me to attain first 60 nights in 2017 and then 55 nights last year.

Sadly, the latest changes have made it no longer worth it for me (back to 60 nights). I'll enjoy Globalist for another year and likely status match to Hilton Diamond early next year.

Reminds me of a smaller program, Shangri-La. They once had property in Brisbane, but no more. Hotels come and go, hopefully with the changing appeal of Brisbane come more brands, but I fear if too many open there wont be enough demand, so some will also close.

Back in the 80s I was a member of the Sheraton Club International.Was lifetime gold-but it was only for the lifetime of Sheraton as a stand alone company.No more status when SPG took over.
Had plenty of choices in Australia.Also there were 2 properties in NZ.All gone apart from the Mirages.
So yes brands come and go.

I thought a Park Hyatt would have been perfect in the new Queens Wharf area, yet alas the 'chain' brands will be Ritz Carlton (a great Marriott addition) then a Rosewood & a Dorsett hotel.

Not sure what the Dorsett & Rosewood will look like, as they will be in 'Integrated Resort' section of the development and brand spanking new.

Ritz Carlton will be in the old Treasury buildings, so I'd assume will be themed towards the luxury 'Victorian' looking design (I'm by no means have much idea of design, so someone please correct me if I'm off the mark here).

And pretty much as expected, I raise the question of a Hyatt property in SEQ and they announce to build a new Andaz in Sydney!!
