Will an airline confirm/deny if someone successfully boarded a flight?

I'm sure the answer is almost always "no" due to privacy concerns.

But are there any circumstances where an airline would give up this information (without a police request, etc).

Have not heard from my better half during their 8hr transfer at DXB, using "Dubai Connect" hotel service.

It's a little abnormal, but of course there are a tonne of very possible (non-sinister) reasons why this might be: lost phone, flat batteries, no signal, too tired... or maybe I'm just in the doghouse. :)

I'm not about to go calling the airline in a panic. But it just got me thinking, they must get this type of request a lot? Especially with unaccompanied minors.

Flights were booked using my FF points & my QF account. I guess I'll find out later today if they've made it to their onward flight and final destination. :)

I would be saying No, But ring the Dubai Connect hotel service and see if they have booked in.

He/she is probably tired, and TBH maybe doesnt want to talk .
If i tried calling my wife between flights and stressed anout not being able to, she would say I am insecure and untrusting. But thats just what my wife would say
Regardless the peace and quiet would be bliss

Officially if your talking QF I think no but unofficially maybe. I was once booked to fly SYD - MEL with two colleagues on an early morning flight we were all on the same booking but checked in separately I met up with one of the colleagues in the lounge but neither had seen or heard from the other and it was getting very close to the flight boarding time so we tried calling her multiple times for no answer which was unusual eventually we were left with no option but to board without her or miss the flight ourselves. As I knew she lived alone and I was concerned something might have happened with no one to check on her I did call HR and ask them to keep checking on her while we were flying. When we got to MEL we went to a QF service desk and told them them that there had been someone else on our booking but we didn't know why she hadn't made the flight and could they check and let us know if she had made a later flight. The nice QF lady said to us that even though she was on the same booking as us she still shouldn't really tell us if she was on another flight or not but if we went to gate X at this time it would probably be a good idea. Sure enough our colleague appeared out of the aerobridge of this later flight as it turned out she had left her phone at home then got stuck in traffic so couldn't ring to tell us she was going to be late. I really hope that your case is something simple like that too usually no news in these cases is good news as if it was a problem someone in authority would probably have tried to contact you.

No they won't confirm or deny, it would be a security risk.

The one exception to this was just under 20 years ago when we went out to the airport to pick up dad, a family friend who worked for QF at the time confirmed he had gotten on the plane at SYD. (He just told us, we didn't ask)

QF won't release that info.

Has your S.O. Logged into FB or any other net related pages where a last 'visit' is recorded?

Checked all social networks, no sign of activity.

I'm sure it's fine. I was more just asking out of interest. We'll know more in a few hours when the connecting flight is due to land. I do have the contact details of her family who are meeting her at the airport if it comes to that. I'm sure it won't though. :)

You could check their QFF account (if you have password) and see if the onward flight has recorded on their history.

But I suspect they were tired and wanted to maximise sleep time! I'm doing a DXB overnight in a few months time and I will be hightailing it to the hotel and to bed without delay!!

I doubt you would get anything out of anyone in Dubai, since that little incident with Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh.
