Have received multiple flight number changes on our regular MEL-OOL-MEL flights which means no more new Airbus 220 with 2 and 3 seat configuration and just happen to like the 2 seat configuration and now back to the old Qantas 737-800, so does anyone know why the change ??

I recall flying on the 733 (or 4) and even 767s on the route back in the 90s. Good to see it back with mainline after a few decades. 🤪

Melbourne to Brisbane going more A220 but Melbourne to OOL going mainline. Hard to get my head around the QF strategy half the time…

34% lower cost base would be a factor for crew

But fewer passengers: 137 with A220-300 v (IIRC) 174 for B737-800, so about 21 per cent fewer seats in the newer plane.

If costs are taken into account, the multi-million dollar purchase price for each new aircraft ought be included.

After our recent flight this week the Purser via the Captain explained that for the summer months up to and including March the 737-800 will be used as can carry more passengers which does make sense and looking at our forward bookings from June onwards the A220-300 is back servicing the MEL-OOL-MEL route
