A better question would be "Why do idiots insist on undoing their seat belts as soon as the wheels hit the tarmac?" I've even seen someone make a dash for the toilet whilst still taxiing to the gate! Sometimes I really wish the aircraft would need to make a quick stop to teach these idiots a lesson.
One of these days I'll sell my idea to an airline for a system that automatically tracks any seat where the seat belt is undone before the seat belt sign is turned off, and automatically charges $50 to the passenger's credit card as a fine.
... fall in love?
... check luggage when they can avoid doing so¹?

Of course, it's really nice staring at the luggage carousel at your destination airport wondering:Because if you aren't in a hurry, it's nice not to have to carry your luggage around with you in the airport and onto the plane. And because it's considerate not to take too much on board with you, to speed up the process of getting everyone and their hand luggage settled in and the plane in the air.
I disagree. The real question is that whilst the aircraft is taxiing, why does anybody legally have to stay seated? If challenged in a court (not that it would get to court) it would undoubtedly be defeated. I mean, trains and buses go much faster than a taxiing aircraft, yet everyone stands on both trains and buses. Food for thought.
Its the same as at the baggage carousels...
There is usually a line on the ground a foot or two back from the carousel where people should stand and wait which allows others further down the line to be able to see when their bag is coming down the conveyor and also space for people to pull their bags off and down etc, but no, the halfwits immediately rush up and stand right next to the thing blocking the view and blocking access as if its going to get them their bags a bit quicker...
I disagree.
It is not just an airline rule but part of the regulations.
The trains and buses argument is irrelevant.
Just as the requirement for them to tell you how to use a seatbelt is in the regulations.Really? A regulation? Surely, the announcement to remain seated is just an airline directive so they can reduce/remove their liability; but its surely not enforceable. Can't say I've ever heard or seen anyone charged with such a thing.

There are quite a few things in there that would roll your eyes.
