Why are you Still using XP?

Why not John :?:
Because I do not like Apple.

JohnK - what is it about OSX/iOS that you don't like?
I don't know much about the operating system but on the user interface side and products used.

I do not like the interface.

I do not like the standards (or lack thereof) used.

I hate the keyboards.

Not a fan Safari.

I hate it everytime I have to use one of these machines in the lounge. Tried to use one without dual boot in the Cabin in HKG and it was a nightmare. Saved by the Qantas Lounge.

I am quite happy with the quirks of Microsoft and more importantly using tried and tested products. Still use Office 97 and if I had the time and money to stay in touch I would also use Quattro and Wordperfect instead.

Fair enough - just not sure what is wrong with Apple as a company? Setting aside the slave labour in China and a failure to pay taxes in the US - which are new issues thus for me wouldn't be a valid reason to have had a long term dislike for the company.

I wonder if the user interface dislike is simply due to unfamiliarity and thus when you have to use it in the lounge it reinforces your dislike.

I flip flop on Safari - sometimes I flip to Firefox (as used on my work comp) and then flop back.

I would have to disagree re tried and tested products. Apple has been around as long/longer than Windows... The Apple 1 was released in 1975 - but the first real Mac was released in 1984 - conversely Windows 1.0 was released in 1985 (any errors of fact in that data are the fault of Wikipedia) and it wasn't until 1990 and Windows 3.0 that there was a comparable GUI.

Bring back OS/2

An operating system that dwarfed other PC based OSes at the time.

Why, because iCan.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Our household (4 PCs and 2 laptops ... for umm, 3 people) is all Windows 7 x64. Love Windows 7.
I may laugh about people still using XP now, but if the consumer preview of Windows 8 is anything to go by, I suspect we'll be on Windows 7 for a long, long time yet

Agree!!! The Windows 8 concept of hovering in the corners to get the start menu etc to come up is shocking - it takes too long.

We use XP because it works. Our servers says it doesn't want to connect any WIN7 workstations. We got tired of paying over-priced MS Certified people that couldn't resolve the issue. Cheaper just to stay with XP.

Roll on Cloud computing.

I actually prefer XP, even though my last laptop has W7, and Im currently rebuilding a new home machine with W7.
W7 just seems way more complicated to find menu items, change settings, and it seems to bury files in retarded locations that have ridiculous security settings.
Why cant they just upgrade the OS and have the option for it to look and operate the way the old one did.

Someone at work just had an issue with one of our workstations. It;s still on W2000. OMG. It was slow as hell.

I dont use Mac, as I need all ouur machine to talks to one another, and I rely on remote access.

Who mentions Vista? That OS was the worst fail ever...

7 was great when I first got it. Updates all the bloody time.... Getting slower and slower.

....and the security restrictions, sometimes I can't even access files that I created - another update!

It all seemed alot easier on XP.

Gone to Mac at home :)

**Please bear in mind that I made a 'tongue-in-cheek' comment when someone found a fare difference between JQ and QF with a screen shot showing XP. My remark was, why not use the difference to upgrade to Win7.**
