Re: The Irony: Comparison of QFF Flights and buying them normally!

Lol. I still use XP, its not THAT bad...

He he, it was just a joke. But the difference in price ~$100 (JQ/QF), might as well use that change to upgrade from XP -> Win7.
I have Win7 on a machine here, and it's miles in front. I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade.

Re: The Irony: Comparison of QFF Flights and buying them normally!

ha ha, love XP, its worked for me so far so why change!

and iim in my 20s.....just

fiddled with vista a bit and hated it,

apparently win7 is better but I dont think my pc is good enough

ive had a nokia n97 (worst nokia in history) and now a e7,

n97 was buggy as anything, really bad, my e7 was really buggy as well, nokia gave me a new one, and its much better but still not perfect,

so ive got a complex with slow/buggy technology!

I work in an industry where people still can't get over how useful a fax machine is...

Re: The Irony: Comparison of QFF Flights and buying them normally!

XP is the most used OS in the world I believe. Very stable and compatible. I think if Vista had been usable then a lot of corporates would have gone to Vista rather than waiting for Win7...

Re: The Irony: Comparison of QFF Flights and buying them normally!

Retain XP on my Dell Mini 9.... dont want to risk upgrading... and unsure if it could handle it.
Win7 on my new Toshiba Z830 Ultrabook ... absolutely awesome machine

Yeah, I went from XP > short Win7 experience > Apple.

OSX is good, but there are little things which bug the heck out of me. I guess nothing is perfect, the grass is always greener on the other side?

OSX pet hates;
"Save As" - open an e-mail attachment (like a Word Doc). You have to 'Unlock/Duplicated' the document, then you can save. Annoying!

When you open a program/app in OSX, and press the 'green' expand button, it never takes up the whole available real estate like Windows does. (Yes, there is an app for it I know).

CMD+Tab. Windows, Alt+Tab, perfect. Apple, if you have minimised app in the dock, and CMD+Tab, only the top menu bar changes, the app is still in the dock. It doesn't pop up like Windows.

I'm sure are more.

Only yesterday I was asked to re-register a software tool thats almost 25yrs old....How do you politely tell someone that we don't use such old software and that they need to move on. Imagine if someone asked for a fresh install of Windows 98 ?

I only left the safety of 98 when I could no longer get updated 'driver's for it.

I know of some who happily embraced Vista before 'bolting' back - as a result they view 7 with deep suspicion.

Still use Xp, more reliable, less of a memory hog and more compatible with earlier programs. With older computers, they probably can't even handle win7. Always can find uses for older computers. eg. Internet browsing, word processing, used as a media player for tv's.

In the NM household we have 3 x Win7 and 3 x XP, so its an even split. All are using the OS they came with, though I am about to "upgrade" two of the Win 7s from 32 to 64 bit when I get some spare cycles.

Both my personal and work computers are on Win7. We still have a quite a few XP machines in the office and as late as last year the previous SysAdmin was buying Win7 machines and installing XP on them.

I'm in the process of getting the older XP machines phased out and replaced with Win7, and the newer ones may be delegated to the mediocre tasks like phone monitoring software, etc.

Probably the primary reason that corporations are holding on to XP/IE6 et al so long is programs and scripts that don't work on anything else. Some people here are still using our old Access 97 database.

My desktop at home is currently running OSX Lion and XP - I expect the impending new Mac will run Mountain Lion and Win7

Re: The Irony: Comparison of QFF Flights and buying them normally!

I have XP on my old PC that my 6 year old uses to do ABC learing Eggs on. I must say, that ABC learing eggs is helping him more than I thought it would..

Cheers.
