So a question not related to points or SC earns ()

I have one leg to book in my June US adventure. And rather then just hitup AA because of QF SC earns I'd rather try something different.

I had thought about Virgin America - but tell me fellow AFF'ers who should I fly on my shortish ORD-LAX leg ?

Will you be transiting/connecting through ORD, or will you be staying a few days in Chicago?

If I don't travel AA, I normally fly Southwest. They leave from Midway, which is connected to the Orange train. Found it a lot less stressful than ORD.

All airlines are pretty much the same (except for VX which has the mood lighting and IFE). I find there's slightly more room on Southwest, no bag/change fee's, and I actually like their boarding process (check in online early, and get a spot at the front of the line). . .

I hadn't thought about flying out of Midway. I'm staying 3 days in Chicago. And I'm coming through O'Hare so maybe its good to go out of the other airport.

... and except for JetBlue, which have 34" seat pitch as standard, and 38" available for not much more (around $50 for ORD-LGB, I think); first bag is free also. The only problem is that out of O'Hare they fly into Long Beach, not LAX, so you'd have to arrange ground transport of some kind.

Frontier Airlines (F9) also fly out of Chicago-Midway (MDW) via DEN to LAX & have good fares. Normal economy doesn't include baggage however the Classic fare gives you two free bags.

Both of these fares allow you to pay a small surcharge for Stretch Seating.

I have never flown them but have heard good things about them. All their aircraft feature different kinds of winter animals on the tail.
