I'm 71 and TID wants about $900 to renew our annual policy. If someone can recommend another insurer I would love to get a quote

We are in that boat too. Ron is in the process of looking at 12 month/multi trip insurance. It certainly jumps up when you hit the big 7 0

The real problem is the length of the trip.In 2018 we have a cruise lasting 32 days so even TID with 37 days is pushing it.
Cheapest I found was Insureandgo.but then read the reviews usually starting with things like-Don't even look, pathetic service, dont touch them with a 10 foot pole etc.
Doing a google search webjet came up the cheapest saying sub $700.But go to their website and it becomes $2100.

I saved $41 of a $410 annual policy last week. Maybe up to $90 (10%) - TID4U

My health is pretty clear and I have had no trouble getting competitive prices on a trip by trip basis ( some adventure type trips cost more but thats par)
Otoh .. swmbo , who is in robust good health but has a popular "disease"… has her quotes doubled in price...

QF WP lead me here in 3/2003!
My first post on AFF on 15 Mar 2013. It was about the Starwood 'Stay 5 brands, earn 50000 SPG pts' promo - this lead to my 1st hotel mattress run!!

After 13 years, I'd call it more of an addiction than a hobby

My FlyerTalk account is Feb 2003, and AFF... is a little more complex but happy to go with 10 years.
There's a wealth of knowledge, tips and tricks been shared over the years. Even today when I run into long-time AFFers, there are still new things to share and learn.

I had some heart issues in 2014 and had to contact 14 companies before I found one to insure me for travel after the issues disappeared temporarily; insureandgo. The policy was pricey, but it was them or I couldn't travel. TID may be a better option at $900.
Good luck.

Thanks for that. I decided to renew with TID and used this code for about $85 discount

October 2003 for this account. I actually joined in Jan 2003 but lost my password and at that time I just made a new account under a different name. I did find a pretty bad rant of mine in there, don't think I want to revisit it! Angry young(er) man back then.

As Mrs Franky still works, and travels regularly to some dodgy places around the world, we have used worldwide multi trip for a while now. However, with our ages at 71.5 and 67.2 years, it was hard to find. InsureandGo has covered us for the past two years, with the current premium $861. Thankfully, haven't had to make a claim for many years, hoping it stays that way.

ANZ Platinum Cards provide comprehensive travel insurance until age 81*. $79 annual fee for the basic card and you have to put $250 of any trip related expenses on the card before departure. This can include ticket taxes and fees. Max stay away is 6 months.

*any trip where the insurance is activated before the 81st birthday is covered, so theoretically if you paid your $250 the day before you turned 81 you'd be covered at the time of the trip up to a year later.
