Who is AFF's Ryan Bingham?

My only issue is how they are earned. If it is from all sources, i.e. credit card, car rental, shopping, hotels, bonus status miles, cabin status miles etc as well as actual miles flown it becomes a little less impressive. I say this because I currently earn 800,000 a year, of which over 400,000 come from flying......but I only fly just over 200,000 miles a year!

Ryan Bingham is none of us but is a bit of all of us. However I will never fly 10 million miles. :( After 54 years I have done over 3 million miles and my butt is tired. :-| When you live for the Flounges and dread the flight, well flying has, a long time ago, lost any romance / excitement. Just a long taxi ride to a hotel room somewhere on the other side of the world that you need to do business to pay the bills.

Thai F check-in at Bkk and Emirates A380 F did try to re-engender some spake but it will not last long. Sorry Ryan but I live on the surface of the planet as do all those that I love and value in my life.

Note when the Captain asked Ryan where he is from (after giving him the 7th AA 10 million mile club card) and Ryan answers "From Here". WTF, get a life mate. Sorry but I have no desire to be another Ryan Bingham wantabee.

Thats why 50% of the Rechoboam index(patent pending) is based on physical miles. And comped/matched status is ignored.

Wouldn't admitting to be a Ryan be a bit of a test of your pre-nup seeing he was catching up with a bit on the side? Or do we just ignore that bit so to speak?

Like the idea of the rechoboam index. One question - I earn around 4000 SC/year with Qantas so what would my multiplier be? platinum = 1.3, PG = 1.4 or if I did the sensible thing and shared the love then I could be platinum with QF (1.3 multiplier) and gold/platinum with a couple of others. i.e. does the rechoboam index unfairly penalise those of us who are too stupid/lazy/apathetic (delete as appropriate) to gain status on multiple frequent flyer programs?

I'd be interested to know who takes out the Ryan Bingham trophy here. I spend a fair bit of time on aircraft, but I'm sure it's nothing compared to others.

Do we also need to add in some sort of bonus points for...

The number of cards you can pull our of your wallet while in the presence of a girl.
Bonus 100 points if a girl says "This is pretty sexy" while holding a card.
Anybody that can pick up a girl by talking about car rental loyalty clubs.

Anyone who can pick up while talking about any sort of travel loyalty schemes .. scores a meeeellion bonus points as far as I'm concerned. :p

As for myself - I'm definitely no Ryan Bingham, nor do I want to be. I'm perfectly happy with the flying I get to do - I'm still at the point where I get enjoyment from going somewhere - I don't want that enjoyment to be taken away from me, thanks very much!

Mate, visit India 5 times within 6 months.

:(

Landed again last night. I've only been here 21 hours and already I want to go home....

Been there, done that. Worked in India (Pune) for 5 months over 2 years. Average stay 2 weeks. Please be careful of the mosquitoes. I caught Malaria on my first trip to India. I has come back 3 times. Not nice. :(

It wasn't him who was catching a bit on the side... I believe he was single...

Perhaps replace girl with "person you're trying to get in the pants of"? ;)

That card was an AA Concierge Key Card. Here she is holding the card, just after making that comment to Ryan:

AAConciergeKey.jpg

She was a serious "away from home player" and the card was just what she needed to get her way with Ryan.

I have had no success at all with my Woolworth's EDR Platinum Mastercard.....even the lady at the Caltex service station doesn't know anything about it!! :p

Probably because it is not made from Graphite. Quite a bit heavier than plastic and easy to tell if your are a DYKWIA or not.

But if you flash her your Formule 1 keycard she will get your drift!;)

Going to India that many times in 6 months.....are you trying to get sick?? Now there's a place to never drink the water out of the shower....not that anyone should ever do that anywhere.
What type of peg do you put on your nose to keep the smell and bugs out?
Ryan did not cover that in his trips so you are ahead of him there Frantic.

I'm exceptionally lucky! Nothing but the best for me; -Y travel and India. Life doesn't get much better than this. :(

Even with Ryan's ****ty job and flying 300k miles a year with AA, I'd still rather do that than do another work trip to India (please, please, please let my next one in November be my last...!!).

It seems to me that criteria for becoming Mr, Mrs, Ms, Dr, Miss, or Master "Ryan AFF Bingham" should include, but not be limited to:

Number of miles flown
Nights away from home
Credit Card combination to maximise points
Airline Status
Hotel Status
Rental Car status. (Not sure how valid that is in Australia.)
Any wow factor cards and memberships
+ possession of a room key to a Formule 1 hotel in South America :p

So for me YTD

141,763 :-|
66 :-|
Amex Plat Charge, Amex Ultimate (2.5 per $ with QF), and Citibank Business Gold as back up. (.....and the Woolworth's EDR Credit Card.) :)
QF WP (LTG), VA WP :)
IHG Platinum :(
Avis Preferred :(
mmmm nothing
Yes the Formule 1 in Bela Horizonte!!!

Not very good I'm afraid. It won't have any lovely ladies in the QF J Lounge in awe of my status and dragging me to their Hilton Suite!!!!

OK, I'll bite..... :D

does a key card I forgot to return to the ITC Maurya in Delhi count? :D

No to qualify it has to be a key card from the Formule 1 Bela Horizonte.I mean just translate that town's name to English!
Tony I dont think you appreciate the power of that card.;)
The only thing I qualify for consideration on though is nights away from home. This year it will be 273.
