Which wine cabinet?

Wow ... great work.
Did you use an existing space in your house?

It is under a large deck (so protected from the weather). I had a space inside that I wanted to utilise but the coolroom guy who cut the panels to size for me wouldn't support a build in an existing indoor space due to vapour issues.

Just a heads up if your considering a new wine cabinet. I've heard a rumor that Penfolds will be running a deal for a new Vintec in September, similar to last years offer.

Which I already mentioned in the Dan's thread :D

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but I just wanted to share photos of the "wine cabinet" I've spent the last couple of months building...

That's brilliant.

Somehow I managed to squeeze 45 bottles into my baby Vintec. It looks a mess but will do the job until the next promo comes out.

There's something missing, but I just can't put my finger on what it may be :p.

I think we need to know a whole lot more.
Size (Dimensions)
Cooling system? HP ? (Projected) Running cost .
Bottle capacity.
This is AFF. We need all the nitty gritty !!

Absolutely.

Which is why I want to know if there's something fundamentally wrong with a Hisense design as opposed to paying extra for the Vintec brand name.

And thanks for the invite ;)

I can't comment for the Hisense model you are talking about, but there are fundamental differences in the cooling technology between some of the lower spec/cost cabinets mentioned earlier and the Vintec/Transtherm designs. This is the main difference in cost.
There is a bit of material on the web about the pro's/cons of the different types, I researched it all a few years ago but have forgotten all the detail now.

I ended up with a 120ish bottle Vintec (as other say the real capacity is smaller), which unfortunately had a refrigerant leak in the first six months that was repaired under warranty within a few days. The service technician lives around the corner from me which is helpful (also does A/C's), he does past warranty repairs for other cabinet owners in the Brisbane area so the back up service is pretty good. Over 3 years old now and no other problems.

If you join the Vintec club there are occasional invitations to events.

That's the sort of information that I'm after, but am struggling to find.

This offer certainly provides plenty of detail on what wines are included in the promotion and what is required on the receipt etc - shame the Wolf Blass Magnum offer was not treated in the same way

I thought I replied to this the other day but the post is missing. The Vintec type cabinets work using a compressor where as the lower spec cabinets have a thermoelectric cooling system, also called Peltier cooling.
Vintec have a bit of information in a customer only section of their website but there should be information about the pros and cons of both on the web.

For the promotion below, it could be worth to go to a local applicance shop and try and haggle them down on floor stock they might want to get rid of, especially today at end of financial year.
