What would everyone be doing now if it wasn't for this nightmare?
I would have been in Nouméa again, drinking champagne on the beach of Îlot Canard inbetween snorkelling sorties and watching the sunsets sipping coughtails with friends at the Chateau Royale before dinner at one of many amazing restaurants which cater more to locals than tourists.
On the bright side, I have a new dishwasher instead.
A year without travel is going to pay for a lot of home improvements.
None of them look quite this good, though or be this much fun
.

What would everyone be doing now if it wasn't for this nightmare?

On my spreadsheet itinerary of 3 b2b fully confirmed (originally) and paid for tours today is listed as: 😢

Day 5 of 35
Full Day in Fez.
Take a full day guided tour where you will visit the many hidden treasures of the medina that only a Moroccan guide will know. Fez served as the capital of Morocco for more than 400 years and is home to the University of Al Karaouine, the oldest operating university in the world. It is particularly famous for its tanneries and the Fes el Bali Medina. A short visit to the surrounding leather shops gives you the best view of the tanneries. See the Attarine Medersa, Moulay Idriss mausoleum, and visit the Nejjarine Fountains and Museum. Opportunities for shopping for authentic Moroccan carpets will be provided. Finally, view the exterior of the Royal Palace and walk through the famed Jewish quarter of the medina.

Maybe in 2021 or 2022 🤔

Michael Portillo walked us through Fez on one of his recent railway journeys - looked fascinating (apart from the smell of the tanneries).

I'm trying not to think about where I'd be today, as we'd be mid-way through our (now) 3rd cancelled trip since lockdown. Instead, we've both come to accept it is what it is and when travel is allowed to happen again we can lift and shift the itinerary so saves a bit of planning time.

We enjoyed our visit to Fez, it's like Marrakesh, but different. Same same, but different as they say. Felt a little more chilled and didn't get hassled as much. 7 hour train journey in 'First' but quite comfortable and very cheap.

Well, not doing it right now, but I was due to depart on a 13 week DONE4 on 27 April, taking in central/eastern Europe, US, Canada and Kamchatka Peninsula.

In its place, I ordered a new car on Wednesday - but once it's delivered, I'm stuffed if I know when I'll be able to drive it out of PER, given the regional restrictions. o_O:oops::rolleyes:

Managed to get a deal where I'll stick the changeover on my Amex - for the day when points can be used again.

How's all that for optimism? :p

I feel your pain! Right now I should be in Bucharest, about to leave on a tour of Romania, Moldova, Translistria and Ukraine, with a side trip to Belarus. Next year !

Sorry can't chat too long as I'm now supposed to be checking in for my VA flight back from HND after taking the inaugural flight there 2 weeks ago... Gotta run!

Phew! That was lucky.;)

Right now I’d be on a train from Nuremberg to Strasbourg and then to Colmar to bring my DONE4 to a close. Just a TGV to CDG to get me home via LHR and SIN.

In actual fact, only got as far as MSY. Left there to head home just before the excrement hit the fan. I consider myself lucky.

The Alsace at this time of year is a wonderful place to visit, but even more magical during Christmas!

Camping & fishing by the Murrumbidgee River at Yaouk.
instead - camping by one of our dams & practicing fly casting.
