The Wilson's are with MadFairlane on the Gold Coast.

I head down there by train Sun night and be picked up by our friends. Staying overnight with them so at least a bottle of red WILL be imbibed. Mrs LW stays at home with the kids and dogs.

Then he and I will wake up at 5am and head out on his boat over the Southport Bar to probably 12 Fathom for some fishing. Seasickness pills a must prior to departure. Mrs LW and minis will head down that morning to meet us off the boat and we'll head to a beach on the River for brunch.

Then home to their place to manage 5 kids for the afternoon. By dinner time we'll be tonguing for that bottle of Vueve Clicquot.

Whether we'll make midnight will be interesting...bet we don't!!

Going up to our place at Maroochydore today with friends joining us over the weekend. Will buy some Coffin Bay oysters and other seafood from Welcome Page and chill the Piper Heidsieck.

Watch the fireworks over Twin Waters from our balcony and be asleep well before midnight.

Inventing new coughtail recipes in Bondi, fireworks on the beach and the harbour and lucky enough to view all from our roof top. Low key this year as next year will be the French Alps!!!

For something a bit different this year, sister and I will be heading to SYD to see in the new year. This will be the first time I've seen the new year in another place other than BNE in at least 10 years (the last time this happened when I was still quite young, and this was in the Philippines).

We've booked a hotel in The Rocks area - thank you PC points redemptions. Down on the 30th and back on the 2nd, so that's enough days to get settled in, see the new year in, rest after the madness then head back up. It was also the minimum stay insisted by the hotel rate.

Have no idea about vantage points or the like (not sure we will be doing the hardcore camping out on the best spots), but we endeavour to be at least in the vicinity of being able to see fireworks.

I'll be with the +1 at the Hilton Pattaya looking down on the common people partying, whilst sipping coughtails the Hilton's NYE party :D
(and a big thanks to HHonors Diamond Rewards!)

Watching fireworks in SIN from the newly renovated Pan Pacific. Can't stay up too late because we've got an early departure for Tokyo next day (on a Dreamliner - in Y, unfortunately) and then catching up with the imperial family on the 2nd (when the palace grounds are open to the public).

Was in NYC last year, +1 heard and saw the fireworks from hotel room overlooking central park but I was fast asleep by then! Did not wake with all the cheering and fireworks!

This year will be at drron's favourite haunt in BKK

Have a great New Year drron and everyone on AFF

Sitting in the EK lounge at DXB waiting for EK 414 to depart unless I can change to the later A380 flight.

I'll be on China Railways service Z61 from Beijing to Changchun en route to Harbin with a couple of friends when midnight strikes. Hopefully the on board alcohol supply will be plentiful.

Why on earth would you take a clunky old Z train when there is plenty of high speed D trains available? And to ensure the booze does not run out, take your own!
